Zeta 499 was an Advanced Recon Commando Commander in the Galactic Republic, and later the Confederation of Free Planets. He was first cloned on Kamino from the template Jango Fett, a Mandalorian bounty hunter. 499 stood out in his unit and was amazing in combat. He was chosen to become an Advanced Recon Commando. After several months of training, 499 became an Advanced Recon Commando corporal.
He was in the Battle of Tarinii, his first mission. He led the troops at the defensive positions at the Republic base's southern perimeter. Afterwards, he was given the rank of Head Sergeant.
499 and his ARC trooper unit headed to the planet of Geonosis to retake it from the Separatists. When they landed, 499 and the rest of his squad led a bulk of the attacking force straight at an enemy factory, and distracted the enemy defenders. Meanwhile, several Jedi snuck inside the factory and blew it up. 499's Squad Leader was killed in battle, and 499 was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, and given command of the squad.
