Mother Zekla was a Dathomirian woman who led the Nightsisters during the age of the New Republic.
History[]
The younger sister of Mother Talzin, Zekla was banished from the clan when she attempted to overthrow Talzin and was forced to fend for herself in Dathomir's wilderness. When the planet fell under the rule of Mother Gethzerion, Zekla fell under her rule and became part of a new order of Nightsisters. After Gethzerion perished in 8 ABY, the Nightsisters were left leaderless and divided. Rather than risk someone powerful take control and serve as a potential threat, the Sith Lord Darth Vorath sent Espaa Valorum, puppet ruler of the Crimson Empire, to kill the current clan mother and install the feeble and elderly Zekla as leader of the Nightsisters.
Four years later, the Crimson Empire returned to Dathomir to retrieve a Sith holocron that had once been in Talzin's possession before being recovered by Zekla some time after her death. The transaction was interrupted by Jedi Knights Toah Jarsan and Kyle Katarn, who attempted to take the holocron only for both parties to escape. The holocron itself turned out to be a fake, though it was unknown whether Zekla was aware of this.[1]
