Zanjurro was an arid planet located in the galaxy's Expansion Region. Despite officially being a member of the Galactic Republic, Zanjurro was considered to be a colony world of the Frenzanian Kingdom as it was effectively governed by corporations owned by the Frenzanian Queen. Zanjurro was important in supplying Frenzan IV with rare materials used in advanced technology, so during the Clone Wars it attempted to join the Confederacy of Independent Systems along with Frenzan IV. The Republic attacked the planet in order to secure its resources, resulting in the Battle of Zanjurro which took place mainly in the Uyazzo Salt Flat. The Grand Army of the Republic besieged Etosh City defended by the Frenzanian Royal Expeditionary Legion until Confederate Marshal General Yosip Zagoonga arrived and defeated the Republic, allowing Zanjurro to achieve independence from the Republic.
