Zahyr was a male Zeyot Centurion of the Order of Keltrayu. A master of Force stealth, he was Rin Sakaros's personal assassin.
Biography[]
Training[]
Zahyr was born on Mandos in 122 ABY. His parents contacted a Praetor-Recruiter of the Order after realizing their son could avoid being seen by others when he wished; he did not merely hide, people just seemed to look past him. Realizing Zahyr's talent, the Praetor took the boy to the Sith Star for training.
Although the Zeyote were not natural experts at camouflage, Zahyr's natural abilities with Force stealth far outstripped the talents of some trained Centurions. Realizing she had something unusual on her hands, Queen Rin Sakaros took a vested interest in Zahyr's training and helped him refine his abilities, teaching him to divert the minds of others away from him. She also taught him the Quey'tek technique of minimizing his Force signature until he could become all but physically and telepathically invisible.
The Queen's assassin[]
He was commissioned in 142 ABY, and even then few other Centurions knew of his existence. Zahyr served toward the end of the Vagaari War, sneaking behind enemy lines to assassinate key personnel. During the wedding of Tariun Sakaros and Breek Zagrev, Rin kept Zahyr close at hand, and ultimately dispatched him to quietly eliminate three snipers from the Human Unity Front who she had foreseen attacking Breek.
Some time before the Nightmare War, Zahyr befriended the Chiss Novice Vos'elk'eetash. Far stronger in the Force than Zahyr himself, Selkee was able to sense Zahyr's presence even when he was hiding, which intrigued him. She also guessed what he used his small set of lightsabers and stealth abilities for, although she kept the secret. To commemorate their meeting, Zahyr gave her one of his shotos as a gift, and Selkee worked the smaller blade into her personal lightsaber style.
The Nightmare War[]
When the Nightmare War began, Rin sent Zahyr on the Mission to Dolomir, although only Aria Nikina and Selkee were aware of his presence. When Rin sensed a plot to assassinate Jira Zaffrod on Irestego, she sent Zahyr to intervene. The Zeyot saved Jira and her family, but was bitten and poisoned by a Verai. Returning to the Sith Star, he allowed Selkee to see his unhooded face in order to assess his injuries. A blindfolded Rayne Turgachia purged his system of the poison.
During the Battle of Dolomir, Zahyr accompanied Breek Zagrev's strike team to kill Ador Hentral, although only Breek herself was aware of his presence. While Breek and her team of Centurions fought Hentral's Anzat clone guards, Zahyr leapt into the Adarian's lap, stabbed him in the chest, and bisected his face. Hentral's death dissolved his telepathic hold over his Skavik army, and the Empire won the day in the ensuing chaos.
All you need is love[]
After the war concluded, Rin allowed Zahyr to go into effective retirement, with the caveats that she could recall him to duty when needed, and that he train his children with his same skill set. He returned to Mandos and married the sweetheart of his teen years, Tahlia. Within a year, they had their first child, a baby girl named Jyzelle.
Selkee visited Zahyr in 150 ABY, bringing an order from Rin for him to assassinate Kairol Hannep, the corrupt Finance Minister of Dolomir. While Zahyr stealthily poisoned Hannep, making him appear to have a heart attack, Selkee watched over Tahlia and Jyzelle. Zahyr returned to Mandos immediately after.
Powers and abilities[]
Though he received the same training in telekinesis and telepathy as all Centurions, Zahyr was best known (among those who knew him at all) for his skills with Force stealth. With concentration, he could make himself physically and telepathically invisible to all but the most powerful and perceptive Force users. Rin Sakaros could sense him, and Selkee could with effort; Breek Zagrev could not, but believed she would be able to react if he actually attacked her.
Zahyr received extensive training in hand-to-hand combat from the Order's greatest masters of Var Shek and other martial arts disciplines, and Rin Sakaros personally taught him Mistryl Shadow Guard techniques; those who knew of him considered him an expert in close-quarters combat. He studied poisons and toxins extensively, and could concoct poisons which would make assassinations appear to be natural deaths.
Due to his unique role in the Order of Keltrayu and his use of shotos, Zahyr built a lightsaber style for himself rather than relying on the traditional five forms. His style incorporated elements of Ataru and Juyo as well as Jar'Kai.
Appearance and personality[]
Zahyr stood 1.78 meters (5'10") tall, and under his hood he had ashy black skin, black hair, and sapphire-colored eyes. He carried a number of shotos, all of which had blue blades. He wore a customized Centurion's uniform which, like Royal Guard uniforms, had a hood.
Despite having been raised most of his life on the Sith Star, Zahyr was deeply in touch with his culture and followed the Zeyot tradition of keeping his face hooded and covered. Aside from his wife and daughter, the only person who had ever seen his face was Selkee.
Something of a loner, Zahyr had few close friends in the Order of Keltrayu, with the exception of Selkee. By the time of the Nightmare War, only a small handful of beings (including Sorrik, Eskol Kaartinen, Aria Nikina, Breek Zagrev, and Tariun Sakaros) knew of Zahyr's talents and role in the Empire. Despite his somewhat mandatory isolation, Zahyr was friendly to those close to him, and had no hesitation to help others learn.
Zahyr nourished a quiet but deeply passionate love for Tahlia for years, and was overjoyed when he finally got the chance to marry her. He was ecstatic to become a father and spent most of his free time in "retirement" with Tahlia and Jyzelle.
