Rebellion era

Yimes Balkar was a stormtrooper commander from Coruscant who ran afoul of one of his superiors, Admiral Feyet Kiez. He was respected by the men who served under him and fought with distinction in many operations against dissidents around the galaxy and had an interest in plants.

Biography[]

His mother and father were loyal citizens of the Galactic Republic. His mother, Amyette, was a member of the Judicial Forces and his father, Lodo, was part of the Republic Spacelane Bureau. Yimes was born in 26 BBY and was an only child. During the Clone Wars, his mother fought to defend the Republic and she was killed in the Second Battle of Ord Zathuun. His father lost his job after the war and trained to be a pilot, disappearing in the Vulcusion sector in 9 BBY. Yimes became a stormtrooper, hoping to one day learn what happened to his father. His first battle was in 3 BBY where he fought against a group raiders holed up in a mountain fortress on Woostri. The raiders had taken several high ranking officials hostage and Balkar personally freed seven of them. He then saw action on Dor Nameth, Anobis, and Dimjoon, successively. In 1 BBY, he was transferred to serve under the soon to be admiral, Fiet Kiez. Under him, he saw some action against a revolutionary group in the Azure sector but, apart from a battle to dislodge the enemy from a secret base on Ichium, he felt most of the work seemed fit for local security forces. During this time, his immediate superior, Phillaun Smordi, was promoted and sent to serve on the Executor and Balkar was promoted to take his place.

In 0 ABY, he and his men finally had the opportunity to face the Alliance to Restore the Republic on Chekria where a small division of rebels who had escaped Yavin were hiding. They found the Rebels and destroyed or captured a majority of them. A few days later, they received word that they were going to the Écpe system to free it from a Rebel takeover. When they arrived, they immediately attacked Écparz. However, the Rebels laid a trap in the base and over half of Balkar's men were killed and he was severely wounded with many other men. Admiral Kiez had the living stormtroopers recovered and declared the battle a victory and the Rebels destroyed. Balkar spent almost a month in a bacta tank. When he was released, he began to question whether the Rebels had actually been eliminated, remembering that there were supposed to be tunnels under the base. He began to carefully research the operation to see if Admiral Kiez had neglected his duty to confirm the victory. He led his troops in combat again on Cularin, preventing a Rebel disruption of Imperial mining operations, and they captured a former Confederate terrorist on Kerkoidia.

After several months, his research was found out by Sleer Dijonin, a Duros looking to gain favor with Admiral Kiez. He reported the stormtrooper commander in 1 ABY. Kiez quickly had Balkar put in a mock trial on Coruscant and accused him of failing to prevent the deaths of over 500 stormtroopers under his command during the operation of Écparz. Despite his willingness to provide a lawyer for himself, Kiez appointed an inept Gungan to represent him. He was never given an opportunity to speak during his trial and there were several witnesses against him, including one of his own men, Joar Omnis. He was convicted but, in spite of the weight Kiez had with the court, was only sentenced to ten years in a minimum security prison on Coruscant. However, after the death of Palpatine in 4 ABY, Kiez feared Balkar would be released so he hired the Exactor to kill him in prison.
