Yarsh Gronnan was an officer in the Imperial Navy. He captained the Dark Force, an Imperial I-class Star Destroyer that served as the flagship of Imperial Inquisitor Lunais.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Yarsh Gronnan was born to a well-placed family on Coruscant. His father, Emirt, was a officer in the Republic Judiciary Starfleet, while his mother was the daughter of an oil baron from the Mid Rim. Yarsh would gain admittance into the newly-anointed Imperial Academy a month following the Declaration of a New Order. His younger brother Rolve would gain admittance a year later. Upon graduation in 15 BBY, Gronnan would be posted to the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Warrior. Gronnan's family connections and excellent service record allowed rapid advancement through the ranks, and he would gain the rank of Captain by 9 BBY, replacing the Warrior's former commander.

Under Gronnan, the Warrior admirably served the Imperial Navy. Serving in the Rothana sector, Gronnan oversaw the protection of the Kuat shipyards in the area, as well as other important Imperial facilities. Gronnan apprehended dozens of pirates and dissidents in the sector, and would receive a personal commendation from the sector Moff, Enric Tieres.

Galactic Civil War[]

Two years before the Battle of Yavin, Yarsh Gronnan was transferred from the command of the Warrior to a newer Destroyer, the Dark Force. Fresh off the line, the Dark Force was to serve as the flagship of one of Palpatine's Inquisitors, Lunais. While Gronnan's service record spoke admirably of the officer, Lunais put his skills to the test and sent the Dark Force on several missions before fully trusting her new Captain. One such test, in the Shola system, would see the Destroyer performing a Base Delta Zero bombardment on the surface, rendering the planet uninhabitable. Such wanton acts of destruction on the part of the Inquisitor made Gronnan question her motives, but he would continue to faithfully serve Lunais.

About a year after the Battle of Yavin, Gronnan would still continue to serve as the commander of the Dark Force and senior officer in Lunais's Fleet. The ships of her Fleet would play a major part in the Tieres Affair. Lunais's actions during her pursuit of Naelah Tieres would further call her motives into question by the Dark Force's captain. Despite his misgivings, Gronnan would mind his tongue in front of the Inquisitor, to avoid her wrath.

It is unknown what part Gronnan will play in Lunais's mission to capture Naelah.
