The Xavad were a near-human species of Outer Rimmers who originated from the Xavada system. A pair of part-Xavad, Romulus Fairfax and his brother Remus, were good friends to Firmus Piett all his life.
The noticeable things about Xavad were their blue skin, jet black hair, gold eyes and a long, bluish reptilian tongue.
The Fairfax family was mainly human, but a great-grandmother on Romulus' and Remus' mother's side was a Xavad, passing her more noticeable traits down to them.
The Xavad, informally going by the name Xavadans, were a race who, when it came to violence, preferred mercenary work instead of all out hand to hand combat. Many were scientists among their people and ambassadors to other worlds.
