The wedding of Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger took place in Keldabe nearly two months after the Battle of Endor with the pursuit taking place from early morning in the Adenla Market to nightfall at Dal'voris Park. The two then embarked on a honeymoon across Mandalore for the next few months. Sabine became pregnant with Kaidon Bridger Wren three months after the wedding.

Background[]

Mandalorian tradition[]

Although most Mandalorian wedding ceremonies are relatively simple, weddings involving the daughters of noble houses involve a ritual pursuit of the groom by the bride. The chase is meant to be a display of devotion to one another; with the groom doing everything short of killing or maiming his bride to be or leaving the planet the hunt takes place on and the bride is meant to show her love through her determination to catch the groom. Once the groom is caught the bride is to subdue him with ceremonial bindings before giving the wedding vows. Upon the completion of the vows the two would be declared wed.

Ezra and Sabine's relationship[]

Ezra and Sabine entered a romantic relationship soon after Lothal was liberated from Imperial rule. The two were encouraged by the rest of the Ghost crew and had the open approval of Sabine's family to be together. By the time of the Battle of Endor, they had been in this relationship for four years, their bond growing over the course of the Galactic Civil War and Ezra's involvement with the fight to liberate Mandalore.

With the destruction of the Second Death Star and death of Palpatine, it seemed to Sabine, Ezra and others that it was the right time for them to marry. Since the Empire seemed to be in full scale retreat and was now without the leadership of its Sith ruler, Sabine considered it safe enough for her and Ezra to be married. This view was shared by the newly formed House Wren and other Mandalorian Clans who felt that Ezra's service in the war against the Empire and help in liberating Mandalore made him worthy of taking her as his wife. This sentiment was shared by many across Mandalorian Space who were aware of Ezra's efforts fighting as part of the Resistance. There were many in the Rebel Alliance that hoped their union would help solidify good relations between Mandalore and the forming New Republic or even Luke Skywalker's fledgling Jedi Order.

Sabine first decided she wanted to marry Ezra sometime before the Battle of Endor and Ezra returned her feelings but the two decided it was not yet safe for them to do so. Sabine believed that in the immediate aftermath of the Liberation of Mandalore there was nothing else that the two needed to worry about. That very night, she told Ezra of her wish which he happily reciprocated. The two told Sabine's family and the Ghost crew the next morning. The news had spread through the rest of the Mandalorian Resistance, the ranks of the Rebel forces in Mandalorian Space and a large amount of the sectors inhabitants by the end of the next day. It was not covered in official media, however.

Planning[]

Sabine began planning the ambush hours before the Keldabe Victory Celebration in the Great Hall. Taking advantage of Ezra and Kanan being preoccupied speaking to Kina Ha and Xavier about the ongoing search for Force users, she spoke with the rest of the Ghost crew and Ketsu Onyo to fill them in on the plan, with Kanan to be informed by Hera later. Hera displayed brief discomfort regarding the ropes but accepted them as simply being part of the proceedings, stating she'd be honored to take part in the wedding hunt. Kina and Kanan were also informed as well as the Bad Batch, who were ordered to keep Ezra in the dark about the plan.

"This is superb, my dear. Just don’t forget to triple knot them when you catch him.""I remember, Father said that you made that mistake and he almost freed himself." “What can I tell you? We were young, in love, and I was impatient. But I'm sure you won’t make my mistake." Sabine and Ursa during the inspection of the ceremonial bindings.

The night before the wedding, Sabine met her mother in the Keldabe Great Hall so Ursa could inspect the bonds Sabine intended to use and give her daughter her blessings. Sabine confirmed that the rest of the Ghost crew save Ezra knew of the plan and that they would be watching the pursuit from a viewing area along with her parents, Tristan, Kina Ha and the invited heads of a few clans. The video footage would be captured by Sabine's helmet and a camera on her belt.

Upon inspecting and approving the bonds Sabine had prepared, Ursa surprised her by saying that back when Sabine left in exile, she never expected her daughters wedding day would come, much less that her love would be a Jedi. Ursa followed this by saying the newly elevated House Wren would be honored to have Ezra join.

When Sabine turned to leave, Ursa requested that the chase go on at least a few hours so as not to make Sabine's choice of husband look bad. Sabine responded by saying she had no intention of having the hunt be short and that if all went well Ursa would get a glimpse of what her grandchildren might be capable of. Ursa finished by telling her not to put all the work on Ezra's shoulders.

The Chase[]

Early to Mid Morning[]

"Ezra Bridger, Sabine of Clan Wren, House Wren lays claim on you! Defend yourself!" "Zeb, I can tell you're in on this! I expected better from you and the deal's off!" "Come on!"- Sabine declaring her intention to claim Ezra followed by Ezra figuring out Zeb's involvement and reneging on their deal.

As per the plan devised by Sabine and the Ghost Crew, Ezra was dragged out of his quarters by Zeb on the pretense of finding a Corellian restaurant nearby with a new breakfast menu. Ezra followed them reluctantly and argued that he wanted to sample as much authentic food as possible before he was sent on his next mission, expressing doubt that Rebel command would let him stay on Mandalore for long once it was freed.

Zeb joked about Ezra becoming a gourmet over the years to which Ezra replied he just wanted to try Mandalorian food made the local way. Zeb chuckled in response and joked under his breath that Ezra's opportunity would be coming sooner than he thought. Ezra only faintly heard him but was starting to become suspicious as they approached the arch where Sabine and Hera were waiting in ambush.

Sabine and Hera were waiting on the other side of the arch for Ezra and Zeb to pass through. By this point Ezra had promised that if the Alliance didn't recall him to active duty within five days he would take Zeb to wherever he wanted and pay for what he ordered. Zeb brought Ezra to a stop claiming that his chronometer wasn't working and Sabine took the opportunity to take Ezra's lightsaber and blaster and throwing them to Hera and Ketsu. This caused Ezra to spin on his heels as Sabine told him she was claiming him as hers. Ezra realized that Zeb was also in on the plan when he noticed him grinning after Sabine made her declaration and annulled his deal with Zeb right before Sabine attempted to engage him in hand to hand combat. At first Sabine held the advantage, even being able to slip one of the ropes over Ezra's hand before Ezra was able to overpower her and flee.

Much to Hera's surprise, Sabine seemed to enjoy what had transpired and expressed her delight that Ezra escaped her. Hera and Ketsu left for the viewing room after telling Sabine not to give an inch during the chase.

Ezra then headed into the Chortav Meshur Kane (Gem-cutters street) Market in order to use the crowds as cover from any attempt Sabine made to simply swoop down with her jetpack and grab him. Taking a moment to get his bearings and examine his situation, he concluded that he could not count on either Sabine's family or the Ghost crew to call her off.

Sneaking through a section of the market selling rugs, Ezra was unaware that Sabine was watching from the nearby rooftops and ambushed him near a dead end. She attempted to subdue and tie him up but Ezra threw her off and into a yarn display before running off again.

Two hours after encountering Sabine in the Chortav Meshur Kane Market, Ezra made his way to a tap caf with an information terminal for public use where he discovered the exact details of the situation he was now in, specifically the rules and history of the 'wedding hunt'. Realizing that she had full sanction to pursue him, Ezra decided that his best option for the moment was to set up some sort of defense in one of the neighboring districts of Keldabe.

Meanwhile, Sabine was continuing the chase by seeking out whatever trail of his she could pick up. Ursa got into contact with her and worriedly if Sabine was getting bored with the hunt to which she said no. When asked why, Sabine stated that the hunt was much like foreplay and that it could be neither too short nor too long. Hera interjected that she initially assumed Ursa was joking when she was told this trait in Wren women was hereditary. Alrich, Kanan and Zeb laughed while hearing this exchange while Kina told Ursa that none of the brides in the previous wedding hunts the Kaminoan had witnessed were as voracious as Sabine, to which Ursa could only shrug.

Late morning[]

Hiding in an outdoor veranda, Ezra considered the option of simply surrendering to Sabine the next time she turned up but realized the insult he would be paying her by doing so. Ezra decided to himself that he'd keep the chase going until nightfall if he could and that he'd make his way toward either Dal'voris Park, Shae Vizsla Stadium or the front of the Great Hall but take a non-linear path. Putting his new plan into effect, he headed in the direction of the statue of Tarre Vizsla that stood in the southern part of the city. He also called upon prior experience with concealing his trail to ensure that should Sabine come into the area, she wouldn't be able to pick up on his intended destination.

Early afternoon[]

"It'll only take a few minutes!" "Yeah, and that's all it's gonna take to give the person chasing me exactly where I am!" Ezra arguing with a local Holonet news crew in an effort to convince them to let him go.

Ezra's progress to the statue of Tarre Vizsla was mostly unimpeded with the exception of a few instances where Ezra believed Sabine was started to tail him again and he hid until he felt that the coast was clear. However, he encountered an unexpected obstacle at the Shae Vizsla stadium in the form of a local news crew doing a report on Keldabe's rebuilding effort one month after the Empire was chased off-world. A member of the film crew noticed Ezra and recognized him from clandestine broadcasts about the progress of the Mandalorian Resistance as well as images leaked from Imperial Intelligence. Ezra was approached by the group who attempted to engage him in an impromptu interview, given that the public had become much more aware of his role in the fight to free Mandalore during the final year of Imperial occupation. Ezra politely but firmly declined on the basis that all Sabine would need to do to find him was be near a holoprojector showing the channel he was on. The news crew pressed him further while the scene began drawing a worrying amount of attention from onlookers. Ezra became increasingly impatient and was more vehement in expressing his need to move on.

Ezra's fears were soon proven warranted when Sabine called him on his commlink and jokingly asked him if he was enjoying his first appearance on Holovision. Ezra did not respond to her, simply terminating the call and vaulting over a nearby hedge to escape the news crew.

Aftermath[]

Wedding night and honeymoon[]

"You Fought well" "Thanks."

After Sabine subdued Ezra and the two gave the wedding oaths, they made their way to a suite in the Great Hall where the two consummated their new relationship. They stayed in Keldabe for the next few days before embarking on their honeymoon trip around Mandalore. Kaidon, the first of their two children, was born nearly a year after.
