An Ameri-Kani warbarge fires a full salvo of its slugthrower cannons.

Warbarges, originally known as battleships, were large, frigate-sized boats employed by the manifold nations of Ert. Unshielded and barren of plasma weaponry, much of their armament nonetheless could devastate many targets, bristling with explosive slugthrowers that could easily penetrate any shields, though being built by a pre-hyperdrive civilisation, such a battle was never observed.

Warbarges in their most well-known form were employed over the course of under a century of rapid technological Ert development. Employed by the Ameri-Kani, Ja-Poni and Jer-Mon civilizations, among others, the direct-fire warbarge was quickly made obsolete when Ert developed advanced missiles and primitive stealth systems. Warbarges were supplanted as the capital ships of marine fleets by the ancient analogs of carriers.

Warbarges were among the many ancient concepts recovered from a sprawling database, buried in an extensive communications network that connected many worlds in the Sol system. The recovery effort had been commenced by techno-archaeologists of the Galactic Empire who theorized that Ert was the origin of the human species, pointing out the many analogs between the Anaxes War College System of ship classification and Ert's system.
