A void ship was a starship capable of traversing the vast emptiness that existed outside the galaxy. The first starship class truly capable of sustaining itself outside the galaxy was the Decreto-class Super Star Destroyer.
Although, following the success of the Decreto-class most of the warships in StarFleet Command were capable of such feats.
