Vogga the Hutt was a Hutt born on the planet Nal Hutta. He was brought up to be a criminal and a crime lord, like many other Hutts were and was able to follow through on his dreams. He would move to Nar Shaddaa, the moon of Nal Hutta, where he would start up his own crime syndicate to challenge the Exchange and the local crime lord Goto.
Vogga dealt with many individuals throughout his long life and helped them along their way. These people included, but were not limited to, the Exile and Filose Naj. He helped both of them go in the right direction in their lives, getting the Exile fuel for Citadel Station in Telos and making Filose give up the mercenary business.
Vogga was responsible for ridding the refugee sector of all criminal activity outside of his own. He persuaded the Exile to destroy Goto's yacht, had his hunters take out the remaining Serenno gang and the Exchange and then set up special traps to destroy the Genoharadan. He had the reputation of being a brutal businessman who would do anything to reach the top.
Vogga was a leading general in the Great Unification War. The war was spearheaded by Darth Axon, who brought together the Sith, Mandalorians, the Exchange and the Hutts to form a major fighting force against the Jedi and Republic. Vogga was chosen to lead the Hutt forces due to his work taking over Nar Shaddaa. Out of all the generals on the unified side, Vogga was the only one to escape alive.
History[]
Growing up[]
Vogga was born on Nal Hutta to two criminal parents who were well respected across the planet for their endeavors. In Hutt physiology, the new born Hutt must remain in the "mother's" pouch for fifty years, a very small portion of their life. Vogga was no exception and the first fifty years of his life was spent resting in the pouch with only his mother's nourishment.
Upon exertion into the real world from the pouch, Vogga was brought up to be a hateful person. Due to the influence from his parents, he would try as hard as he could to learn the ways of crime for the next fifty years of his life. He would travel the planet during that time, seeking out the more known crime lords on the planet and getting advice and training from them. He learned to handle a blaster from his parents and was taught the importance of persuasion by the nearest moon's foremost crime lord of the time. From that point onward, Vogga focused on honing his skills of speech and studied varying languages as well as Huttese to become a fluent speaker.
One hundred years after his birth, the planet was visited by a group of pirates led by a scoundrel named Armandel Korpus. They brought with them a ship filled with fuel from the nearby planet Sleheyron and were attempting to bribe the Hutt's into slavery with their fuel and the prospects of more from the wells of Sleheyron. Many of the Hutts were willing to follow through with the proposal and Vogga was one of them. However, Vogga had a plan for the crew of pirates.
When he joined the pirates' crew, Vogga brought with him many who he had made friends or accomplices with him. None of them knew of his brilliant plan and they were all beginning to think he had gone insane. The pirates took the ship to Sleheyron, as promised, and unloaded the Hutts into the factory to start producing the fuel. During a routine check up on the Hutts' production, however, Vogga started a revolt and all of the others fell in line with him. The pirates were quickly turned into slave labor for Vogga's new fuel enterprise.
This event alone was able to vault Vogga's respect into the upper echelon of Hutts on Nal Hutta. His first order of business was to have his new slaves construct stealth units around the perimeter of the fuel station, making sure that the Republic would never find out that he was using slaves. Following that, he had his fellow Hutt revolters from earlier go on "recruitment drives" and find even more free labor to work for his new business.
After ten years working with his fuel company underground, Vogga had accumulated a vast amount of wealth. Concurrent with this was the death of the Hutt crime lord on Nar Shaddaa. Vogga saw his opportunity immediately and used his newly found influence on Nal Hutta to get him a one way stop to his new position: heading his fuel operations on Nar Shaddaa and secretly taking over the crime syndicate that the former Hutt had left.
Nar Shaddaa[]
Vogga made his new home at the docks on the Refugee Sector on Nar Shaddaa. He took over the warehouse from the previous owner, including the treasury that had tons of jewels, technology and credits inside. He came to the conclusion that the Hutt was murdered and the culprits did not take the treasure under fear of being caught. They clearly did not take his philosophy; you do something bad, you make sure you get as much out as you can.
Once he got settled, Vogga wasted no time getting his monopoly up and running. The fuel he had coming from Sleheyron was being over produced and he could not keep up with his current resources. He sent a representative to Kuat to get him some new freighters to carry the fuel from one place to another. Vogga received a datapad days later, a list detailing all the possible freighters he could choose from. He studied the specs for each freighter and eventually settled on the three which had the best combination of size and speed, as well as a couple of backup ships should anything bad happen.
With his own fuel enterprise now fully taken care of, Vogga had to look towards cleaning up the mess that the past Hutt left in the criminal business. He put a call out to any bounty hunters attempting to make a name for themselves to come visit him in the warehouse. Two potential hunters came to visit, a Wookiee named Hanharr and the leader of the Gand sect on Nar Shaddaa. Hanharr wanted to be the greatest hunter, not bounty hunter, on the planet, while the Gand were simply scouting for Goto. Vogga considered Hanharr's situation and sent him off on a test mission, to kill the supposed best bounty hunter on the planet in Mira. For the Gand, he wanted the Exchange eliminated for the Refugee Sector so that he would have total control.
The Gand relayed that information to Goto, who was clearly displeased. He ordered that Vogga's fuel freighters be stopped and pulled into Goto's yacht's docking bay to put a hit on Vogga's profits and hope to turn him away from crime. The fuel that was taken from Vogga's freighters would be leant to unstable worlds in need of it. In the meantime, Vogga caught word of his Wookiee beast being defeated in an under ground cavern due to a series of mines set up by Mira. When Hanharr returned to Vogga, he was made Vogga's slave and told that his job would not be finished until both Mira and Goto were slain.
Vogga thought that he would be able to continue his fuel enterprise after he stopped all traces of his criminal activities, but Goto would not stop hijacking his freighters. Vogga now feared for his wealth and was willing to do anything in order to maintain his business and eliminate Goto. With Goto gone, he could also be the number one criminal on the planet, ahead of the Exchange.
The Jedi Exile[]
For nearly a couple hundred years, Vogga had very limited contact outside of Nar Shaddaa. He was still able to ship fuel directly from Sleheyron to various destinations, but he could not receive any of it to ship off of Nar Shaddaa. Even worse yet, any ship that belonged to Vogga, be it freighter or passenger, was being hijacked by Goto. Vogga was very close to giving up hope and forgetting both the crime and fuel industries all together, when a ray of light showed up on his door step one day.
The year was 3951 BBY and the Jedi had been completely wiped off the face of the galaxy, or so it had seemed. Peragus II, the only major competitor to Vogga for fuel had just been destroyed by a mysterious attack by the Republic. Demand for fuel was high, however, with Goto still hijacking his freighters, Vogga was finding it hard to comply. He did find it odd that Goto had been able to continue his work for over two hundred years and came to the conclusion that he must not be a human as was previously thought.
Vogga was resting on his stoop on day, guarding his treasury with his two Kath hounds and Twi'lek secretary, when a female walked into his chambers. She said that he was there to dance for him, but instead questioned him about Goto and his freighters. Vogga was confused and asked why she wanted to talk about Goto in his presence. The female stated that she was willing to eliminate Goto in order to have him send fuel to Telos. Naturally, Vogga expected to have to pay for such service, but the good-willed female only wanted Telos to survive. Of course, Vogga agreed. He did not have to give up much, but would gain much more.
A day later, Vogga learned that his droid warehouse had been broken into and that some ship correspondence codes had been stolen. He did not worry about a thing, figuring that it was all in the little girl's plan to take down Goto. Mere hours later, he heard reports that Goto's yacht had been made visible to the rest of the galaxy and that there was a multitude of activity taking place in orbit. A battle had broken out. Vogga waited until finally, his secretary told him that a Jedi was here to speak with him.
The same female came in, this time with a young man and a droid following behind. He had no idea that the woman was a Jedi, which would explain how she had managed so well. He questioned her about Goto's yacht and why Goto was not chained up behind her. She said that the yacht was destroyed and that Goto would not bother him ever again. Vogga then agreed to send his fuel to Telos and sent the Exile on her way.
A new crime lord[]
You will halt your operations here, Lord Vogga, or you and your friends will not survive. I have studied your movements and I have already killed you a dozen times over.
—Dessicus, leader of the Genoharadan
Following the destruction of Goto's yacht in the orbit of Nar Shaddaa, the economy became completely unstable. Bounties went down considerably, especially since Goto gave up a Jedi with a sizable price on her head. There was a large power vacuum in the sector. With Goto gone, the presence of the Exchange dwindled to a few loyal bounty hunters, attempting to keep the good name of their company. The Serocco Gang were holding the refugees in tight and using them as the driving force in the refugee quad.
Vogga, however, was not going to let anyone else but him take control of the Smuggler's Moon. After the Exile and her companions left, Vogga contacted each of the bounty hunters that were under the Exchange's command and brought them in for a meeting. Gand, Duros, the Zhug family, Hanharr, Trandoshan, Ubese: all were contacted in hopes of reviving the crime that made the Y'Toub sector feared. Mira was even contacted, though she continued on her mission with the Exile.
The assembled bounty hunters knew that they would have no where else to turn if they did not join with Vogga. Hunting jobs were few and far between across the galaxy and Vogga was the only one promising bounties in the most dangerous sector in the galaxy. They all signed on under Vogga's banner and all were treated well except for the Gand. Due to their betrayal the last time that Vogga was looking for hunters, they were sent to Sleheyron to work as slaves alongside the pirates to siphon fuel from the wells.
With his new fighting force behind him, Vogga aimed towards sweeping across the smuggler's moon and making himself the only crime lord left on planet. The Zhug family was sent to find and pick off the remaining members of the Exchange that were on the moon, while the Ubese and Trandoshan were sent to wipe out the Serocco gang in the refugee quad; all the while having the remaining Duros at his warehouse to defend him. With those two hurdles covered within days, the crime lord title seemed to belong solely to him.
However, Vogga was shocked one day while he was sitting in his throne room to be visited by a man named Dessicus. The man threatened a mouthful and immediately retreated into thin air. Vogga was confused, thinking he had gotten rid of all the competition, but this man was something else. He snuck by all of his defenses with ease and back out, meaning he was far more equipped and skilled than even his best of hunters. Vogga wasn't ready to give up his operations like that, instead he enlisted a few Eriaduans from Eriadu to create new gear with an emmiter which proved that the person wearing it worked for Vogga. Sensors were also constructed surrounding the entire perimeter of Vogga's warehouse and deadly spikes were lined along every entrance. Once someone not wearing Vogga's equipment was caught, the spikes would finish them quickly. Vogga was able to turn off the sensors if a wanted visitor was coming.
For the trap to be sprung, however, Vogga would need to lure this man and his friends back into his warehouse. He sent out his horde of Ubese soldiers to the flophouse nearby to cleanse it of life completely. They returned without difficulty and with no casualties. Within the next day, alarms were sounded and the enemy had walked into the trap, only to be stuck in their places. Vogga slithered through his warehouse to meet the would be attackers at the front entrance, pierced through their feet and sides by metal spikes. He pulled out his trusted blaster and shot them all, one by one, until only he and his hunters were left in the area.
Once he was finished, he reached into the pocket of the only man he recognized: Dessicus. What he found was a surprise; a membership datapad showing that he belonged to the feared Genoharadan. Vogga did not know that they still existed, let alone in his back porch. Now that he had killed a sect of them, he was glad he installed the spikes permanently.
Filose Naj[]
Filose Naj: “Good evening, you filthy worm.”
Vogga: “Hi chuba da naga?”
Filose Naj: “You will make a public announcement for me, Vogga, because I know only you have the power to do so on the moon. You will tell the galaxy that Filose Naj is calling to all takers. Anyone who wants to hire me can, and I will work my best for them.”
— Filose Naj and Vogga the Hutt
With the Genoharadan, Exchange and Serocco gang completely removed from his side of the smuggler's moon, Vogga had become to premier crime lord in the sector, as well as the primary source of fuel around the galaxy. His reputation was now galaxy wide and he was getting appointments from everywhere. The Republic, Sith remnants, mercenaries, refugees, even the occasional Jedi would come to see him regarding planetary benefits. He was not in any place to be handing out favors to all these people, that would hardly do any good for him, so he only helped those who brought a lot of credits or could easily kill him. That was rare to happen anymore due to the spikes he put in to stop the Genoharadan.
However, at one moment during a normal day, Vogga's receptionist called in and said that his appointment for the day was there. He wasn't completely sure that he had an appointment that day, but disabled the spikes altogether anyway. He trusted his receptionist to make the right decisions for him. He heard some unsettling noises coming from down the hall, gasps of air and large clunks hitting the floor. He immediately called for all available guards to go to the door to his throne room and guard him.
Then, shockingly, the door to his treasury opened with nobody there to open it, when out of thin air a very large Falleen appeared. Vogga recognized him quickly as Filose Naj, he had a reputation that only crime lords would know, killing a shipful of people who killed his family and training under the famous Achmed El-Gibbar. Filose was clearly one of those rare cases of people that got into his chambers and were able to kill him if he did not get what he wanted. Vogga agreed to get Filose's name out, however, he wanted something in return.
The Exchange, under Kal Artok, were attempting to make a comeback by sending some of their lackeys to take over the refugee quad once again. Vogga told the desperate Filose to take out the Exchange for him and his career would be started off for good. Vogga did not know what took place in the quad, but Filose returned, saying that the Exchange was finished, but that he could not keep his work up anymore. He quit from Vogga's service and went off to Dantooine.
Vogga felt bad for the first time in his life at this moment. He had changed someone's life for the better and gained something that he could have easily gained from somebody else. He regretted turning to Filose, realizing that if he wanted to keep his reputation as a great crime lord, he would need to stop helping people. To get his mind off this latest blunder, Vogga shot his next appointment, a Mandalorian mercenary, square in the head. That made him feel better.
The great alliance[]
We are gathered here today to form one of the most feared alliances in the history of the Republic. Here we stand, the Sith, Mandalorians, Exchange and Hutts, united at last against our main enemy. Let death come quickly to the Republic and a new reign begin!
—Darth Axon to the new alliance
After many years running the crime across the Y'Toub sector and continuing his fuel enterprise, Vogga had surpassed the Mandalorians and the Exchange on the scale of power throughout the galaxy. The Sith were kept ahead of him, mostly out of fear for what they could potentially do at any point. The Republic had tried many times and failed to shut down Vogga's operations, most of them being gouged to death by the deadly spikes at the entrance. Things were going well, Vogga was one of the most powerful singular people in the galaxy and there seemed to be nothing to stop him.
But one day, Vogga's fortunes were lifted even more. The year was 3,780 BBY and Vogga had received details of a new appointment from his receptionist. Darth Axon, the Dark Lord of the Sith himself was coming to visit him. He did not know what to make of this appointment. There was a high chance that the man simply wanted to eliminate Vogga so he could make his way to the top of the galaxy even easier. But something in his gut told him that there was something different at work.
Later that day, the Dark Lord walked in through his door. Vogga had rid himself of any guards and shut down video surveillance to make Axon feel more at home. Luckily the Dark Lord had no plans of assassinating Vogga. He instead only asked him to come to the Sith academy on Korriban with his highest ranking soldiers. He said nothing else other than mentioning that the Republic would fall at last. Obviously intrigued by the statement, Vogga agreed and began preparations.
He gathered the leaders of his bounty hunters, his top Ubese, Duros, Trandoshan and one of the Zhug brothers and even called up Hanharr to come with him. They took his most heavily armored transport to Korriban and docked in the Valley of the Dark Lords. From there it was a small hike up to the academy and when he walked inside, he was appalled at what he saw. The leader of the Exchange, Kal Artok, was standing in the center of the academy with the Dark Lord and Mandalore.
Vogga had already concluded that the Mandalorians would be involved, but he was sure that he had lessened the Exchange's influence enough that they would not be. He continued on only out of the fear of death by lightsaber. Following a long period of silence, head nods and a few hand shakes, Darth Axon opened the meeting with a speech which showed that the four of their groups were to be aligned in order to take over the galaxy. Always looking out for himself, Vogga agreed even though the Exchange was involved, feeling this would only be another chance to make his presence more known across the galaxy.
The Mandalorians and Exchange followed suit and agreed as well and the plans were then layed down. In three years they would begin their assault, focusing on the capital: Coruscant. For now, they all went their separate ways. The Mandalorians back to their base camp, the Exchange went everywhere, Vogga returned to Nar Shaddaa and Axon stayed were he was. For his part of the preparations, Vogga enlisted the tech-savvy Eriaduans once again to construct a fleet for him and his men. Things were well under way.
Great Unification War[]
After the three year preparation period, things were well on their way to success. Vogga's fleet had reached numbers that he didn't even expect, and as such he gave the Eriaduan community a substantial amount of money. All the allied fleets were positioned at Korriban and the leaders all met back in the Sith academy for one last go through of the plan.
Mandalorians, Sith and Vogga's bounty hunters were to swarm the planet from the ground, while the entire fleet remained in orbit under the command of Vogga and Kal. Axon and Mandalore were to storm the Jedi Temple with their elite warriors and eliminate them from the scene as quickly as possible. If things got too out of control and the battle was on the losing side, Vogga and Kal had orders to bomb the entire planet.
However, the plan hit a speed bump the day before the invasion. The Mandalorian world of Dxun was attacked by a strong Republic force led by none other than Filose Naj. Vogga really regretted sending him to get rid of the Exchange at that point. Surprisingly, the Mandalorians were defeated and Mandalore was killed. Axon still proceeded with the battle on Coruscant and planned on raiding the Jedi temple alone with his Sith troops.
Battle of Coruscant[]
All vessels, pull back! Even the Sith, your Lord is dead, pull back! Come if you want, Kal.
—Vogga's announcement to the grand allied fleet
From the attack on Dxun, it was obvious that the Republic knew what was going on. That fact became even more blatant after the allied fleet pulled into orbit of Coruscant from hyperspace. The Republic had already set up a defensive perimeter, though it was somewhat limited. Apparently they weren't expecting an all out offensive on the capital, rather a separated attack on other key worlds at the same time. In this, the allied fleet had a small advantage.
Vogga and Kal ordered that all fighters be released from the carriers and that all capital ships get into position to fire. Trouble was, the Republic was already in position to fire and immediately started bombarding their fleet while they were getting set up. Vogga gave an emergency command to the fighters to have them land in the enemy capital ships docking bays and disable their heavy artillery if possible. This task was made difficult once the Republic realized what was happening and released their own fighters to counter. But that small amount of time allowed the fleet to get into position and started to pummel the Republic right back.
The tables had now turned, with the allied fleet having numerous more ships than the Republic at the moment, though more were en route for their enemy. There were heavy losses on both sides during this aerial battle, though the biggest was on the Republic side. They lost their command ship as the engines were taken out from the inside and the bridge destroyed by the photon bombs of Vogga's command ship. Once that ship had been destroyed, the rest of the fleet was easy pickings, as their firepower had been diminished quickly. The battle seemed in their favor.
Vogga gave the command for the dropships to head down to the surface and begin the ground assault on the Jedi temple while the space battle raged on. The few remaining Republic forces saw the dropships and went back down to the surface to aid in the ground battle. With the allied fleet now alone in space, they set up a defensive perimeter around one half of the planet, in position to fire at the fleet that was bound to come out of hyperspace anytime soon.
Once the raiding party had landed on the surface of Coruscant, a video link was established through a patch that was worn on Darth Axon. Vogga had the image up on his view screen and watched as the Dark Lord rampaged through the Jedi temple, killing many useless padawans and knights before making his way to the council chambers. Things got interesting here, as right upon entering, Axon force pushed half of the council straight into the wall, knocking them out cold. Vogga was getting very excited.
At the same time, a beeping rose up from Vogga's console. There was an incoming fleet, according to the beep, but the only thing that came out of hyperspace was a single ship. He recognized the ship, but couldn't place a name on it. He told the fleet not to worry about anything and let the ship go. This decision would prove to be costly, as the battle in the council chambers had been heating up during this.
It appeared as though Axon was left only fight a man and woman, the rest of the council was thrown around the room in awkward positions. More beeping from the console came and Vogga noticed it was different this time. A fleet wasn't approaching from hyperspace, they were approaching from the other side of the planet. Vogga commanded his ships to turn quickly and get into new firing positions. He turned back to the view screen only to see Filose Naj, the owner of the ship that flew by his fleet, jumping through the window of the council chambers. The next thing he saw was the bottom half of Axon's body separated from the top and he slammed off the view screen.
The amassed armies of the Republic from across the galaxy had come together in full force now, outnumbering the allied force nearly fifteen to one. With Mandalore and the Dark Lord now dead, there was but a weak connection in the allies and Vogga stood in control of the remaining Mandalorian and Sith fleets. Only wishing to survive this battle, Vogga ordered retreat of all his forces rather than bombing the surface and the vessels fled before any damage was done. Back to Korriban to plan their next battle.
Battle of Kuat[]
When Vogga and Kal met face to face back in the Sith academy on Korriban, they decided to throw apart their differences and attempt to work together as a team. With both Axon and Mandalore dead, they knew their chances were slim at winning the war now and realized that they had to weaken the Republic somehow before making a big strike yet again. They decided on the shipyards of Kuat. If the Republic lost that station, their main source of ships would be destroyed and they would be severely weakened. They knew, however, that it would be heavily defended because of that very reason. Preparations were in order.
Most of the fleet was hidden in and around the Valley of the Dark Lords on Korriban, while the Eriaduans employed by Vogga continued constructing new and improved ships. They also made training simulators which were sent on standard cargo ships to Korriban for all the pilots to train with. Vogga and Kal would on different occasions send small strike forces at Mon Calamari and Alzoc III respectively, to keep the Republic on their toes.
After a couple years of preparations, Vogga and Kal lead their once again numerous fleet into battle at the shipyards of Kuat. They left hyperspace a half hour away from the planet, hoping to give all major weapons time to charge for a quick deadly strike. The theory was that if the shipyards were destroyed quickly, the Republic would be reeling and they could make a quick escape back to their hide out. The thing about plans, they are fragile things that can easily be broken.
In the small amount of time that it took for the allied ships to charge their weapons and make to short journey to Kuat, the Republic already began to attack. It seemed that Kuat had long range sensors that Vogga and Kal had not planned on. The Republic knew they were coming before they were even out of hyperspace and because of that had an entire fleet with them prepared to launch a counter offensive. The weapons, of course, were still uncharged and the allied fleet got massacred in a short ten minute span, leaving very few remaining ships.
Vogga ordered all forces to go back to their home bases and that the invasion was off. He also told Kal that the alliance was over between them and that nothing had changed. Vogga took all his forces back to Nal Hutta before there could be irreparable damage to his wealth and wellbeing. The Mandalorians and Sith remained allied and went back to Korriban, while the Exchange disappeared from the scene for a time.
Back on Nar Shaddaa, Vogga had one last plan in place. He needed to survive and he knew exactly how to guarantee that he would. The magical healing juice, bacta, was on the planet of Thyferra. He was sure that Kal would have the same thought process, but would go after the more accessible kolto on Manaan. To be sure, he sent a spy in to the Exchange, who soon reported back an attack on Manaan was in the works. Vogga had to prepare a very small raiding party for an attack on Thyferra.
Battle of Bacta[]
Following the failures of the battle of Coruscant and Kuat and losses of both Mandalore and Darth Axon from the alliance, Vogga was simply aiming for survival as he staged a war against Thyferra. He brought all his remaining forces, bounty hunter and Hutt alike, to the bacta planet, in hopes of taking as much of the precious resource off the planet and back to his strong hold on Nar Shaddaa.
Vogga knew that the planet would not be well defended, because at the same time Kal Artok was leading his own offensive against the kolto planet Manaan. The Exchange and Vogga were never good friends and it showed, as both went their separate ways instead of fighting on in the spirits of Mandalore and Axon. Vogga intentionally started his invasion of Thyferra after he got word that Kal started the invasion on Manaan, making sure that the majority of the Republic forces would be far gone.
Vogga's capital ships set a tight perimeter around the planet as dropships carrying the most capable of bounty hunters went down planet side. They flew down to the largest manufacturing facility on the planet, run by the Republic and quickly took over as they outnumbered the unarmed soldiers nearly three to one. Not wanting to risk anything, the Republic soldiers were killed and disposed of in a nearby forest. The bounty hunters returned to their ships and got the loading devices back to the production facility. They took all the bacta they could, nearly the entire facility full and brought it back up to Vogga in orbit.
The Republic, still distracted by Kal's dying efforts on Manaan, did not realize the facility on Thyferra had been raided in time to arrive. Vogga retracted his fleet back to Nal Hutta, where he left his brethren before taking the bounty hunters back to Nar Shaddaa. The Republic took control of the situation on Thyferra, discovering the empty facility with a simple message left on one of the control panels. Courtesy of Mr. Vogga the Hutt.
Vogga took all the bacta that he had obtained back to his warehouse and stored them in custom built tanks, replacing the room beside his treasury as his new bacta room. He knew that the message he had his men leave in the facility would attract attention from the Republic, just as he had planned. The traps he had set decades ago for the Genoharadan were still in place, his men were as ready as ever to fight the Republic, and now supplied with bacta, all he had to do was wait. He had one last defensive stand to make before he made it out alive.
Skirmish on Nar Shaddaa[]
With all of his forces ready, Vogga waited in his stronghold, sitting in his throne room and watching out the view screen to see if anything was coming. He had received word from his spies in the Exchange that Kal had been easily defeated by the Republic and Vaskar and was executed later that day on Manaan. Vogga knew that he was now the only living general left from the original force and that the Republic would soon be on his doorstep attempting to eliminate the enemy once and for all. Vogga, of course, wanted nothing to do with the war anymore. He just wanted to stay alive.
As the Genoharadan had done years before them, the Republic attempted to sneak in with stealth generators to assassinate the crime lord quickly. As was planned to happen, the first infiltrators were skewered in the door way, suspended in motion as their bodies dripped dry for minutes. The Republic waited outside for hours, attempting to figure out how to get into the stronghold, and eventually found a way in that nobody had thought of before, for some reason. They brought a battering ram to the wall just beside the front entrance and broke in their own entrance. The bounty hunters under Vogga's command scrambled to the hole and began firing quickly. A large battle broke out inside Vogga's stronghold and outside of it, as members of each faction spilled out each way.
Meanwhile, Vogga remained calmly in his throne room and keeping watch over his treasury, guarded by his two favorite kath hounds and a few of his most trusted hunters. He was keeping careful tracks on the business going on outside and inside the strong hold, then ordered his men to set up mines along the walls and doors of his throne room so as to protect himself completely. He also made an order of the communications channel to keep a more careful guard inside, the dealings outside were not as much of an issue.
Since they knew it was going to be a small scale battle, the Republic did not send in a heavy amount of forces. They had a slight edge in numbers and the defenses around and inside the stronghold were more than enough to make it a level playing field. For about an hour the battle raged on until the Republic finally broke through the defending line and their remaining forces began the small assault, based on size and time, on Vogga's throne room. They didn't plan on the mines being lined along the door and immediately upon coming in contact with it, the mines blew and destroyed all but a few of the remaining forces. Vogga had survived and the Republic retreated and never returned.
Death[]
Following the Great Unification War, Vogga continued his fuel enterprise and his criminal business. The Exchange had been next to obliterated in the the war, leaving Vogga as the main and most prominent crime lord in the galaxy. He would rule with his iron fist, employing over ninety percent of the bounty hunters that the galaxy had to offer. Others stayed loyal to the Exchange and freelanced, though they were not enough to threaten his new found glory. His fuel enterprise continued to supply the needy with fuel in exchange for a hefty fee that they were forced to pay, as he had the best and seemingly only fuel left in the galaxy.
His reign lasted unchallenged as the major powers struggled to get back into the fold. The death of the Exchange would last long after he was finished with his own business, while the remaining Sith and Mandalorians worked underground so as to not be defeated as easily again. Vogga had little to worry about from those sinister groups, and even less from the Republic who had ironically become his most loyal customer. He had become one of the richest beings in the galaxy in the matter of his lifetime.
He would live for another two hundred years following the skirmish on Nar Shaddaa, keeping up his fortune and business until his death on 3778 BBY. He was not forced into death, rather passing on naturally, the way he preferred. He believed he was invincible and by not being killed by anyone, he had proved that he was.
Post-mortem and legacy[]
You were a wonderful human being, Vogga.
—The Supreme Chancellor
Following his death, a grand funeral involving the leaders from Coruscant, Telos and other prominent buyers of Vogga's fuel, as well as the greatest bounty hunters in the galaxy was held on Nar Shaddaa. His stronghold served as his tomb and was never entered again and every operation run within was immediately halted. The area surrounding his stronghold was labeled with his name until nearly everything, the flophouse, docks and refugee sector, were preceded by the name Vogga the Hutt.
Ironically, following his funeral, every single bounty hunter who had attended was arrested and executed back on Coruscant for crimes against humanity. With him gone, the Exchange began rising again as a new leader immediately sprung up and attempted to rebuild the once powerful organization. His fuel enterprise was taken over by his closest associate, though it would plunge into obscurity after the slaves would revolt and there would be no source of labor to obtain the fuel. A representative from Telos would take over the fuel business specifically for the planet and it would prosper because of it.
In the end, the death of all his operations showed the absolute influence he had in the galaxy. Without him, they crumbled and the Y'Toub sector fell for years upon years. He paved the way for future Hutt kingpins such as Jabba and would always be remembered as being one of the most powerful and influential figures that the galaxy had ever seen.
Personality and traits[]
Vogga was a harsh person. He did not care for the well being of other people or planets unless it in turn gave him something back. On Nar Shaddaa he helped hold the weak in check by limiting their food supplies and their living area. To him, they were simply taking up space that could be better used by him to set up more criminal operations.
Vogga had a way of doing the right thing when not meaning to, which made some question his ability to lead the Hutts into war. He helped to destroy the leader of the Exchange, Goto, which took away half of the crime being dealt on Nar Shaddaa and also gave fuel from Sleheyron to help power Citadel Station on Telos. Both of these good events for the rest of the galaxy also brought more power to Vogga, as he became the leader of crime in the Y'Toub sector and became more wealthy for the export of his fuel.
Vogga was also a leader among his people. The Hutts knew who he was galaxy-wide and knew his reputation for being a brutal person. This gave him their respect and led him to be able to lead during the Great Unification War. There, he also proved to be a survivor, outlasting the powerful Dark Lord of the Sith and escaping the wrath of Filose Naj to live to see the end of the war.
Talents[]
Vogga was a Hutt, and like many Hutt's, had very few talents. In his early life, the one thing he was able to pick up was an ability to fire a blaster. He always kept the same blaster with him at all times and used it to defend himself whenever his body guards were not there for him. He also had an uncanny knack for technology, namely ships. He was always able to pick out the greatest ship from a small selection and use it for his freighting and cargo deliveries.
Vogga was a master strategist when it came to his own fortune and survival. Once it became obvious that his own life was in jeopardy, he was able to shift the plans of battle or defense in order to assure that his own life stay safe or his wealth get larger. This is most evident in the slave drive set up on Sleheyron and the escape from the battle of Coruscant. He also fitted his stronghold with every necessary item for his survival.
His greatest talent was his charisma and overall influence in the Y'Toub sector. He was able to persuade people to do things the way he wanted or was able to threaten the most powerful of people due to his influence. He rarely ever had to defend himself because of his bodyguards, but more so because of his ability to talk his way out of any situation and more often than not, make something good out of a bad situation.
