Vice Admiral was a mid level flag officer rank in the Imperial Space Armada of the Sith Empire around the time of the Great Galactic War and subsequent conflicts. An Imperial Vice Admiral usually commanded a squadron within an Admiral's fleet or an independent task force for specific missions. Some also headed departments in the Ministry of War or commanded naval bases. In the starfighter corps and naval armsmen, a holder of this rank held senior staff positions or served as the head of a large formation.
