Via Eerin was a female Mon Calamari who served as Chief of State of the New Republic after the Glorian War.

History[]

Via Eerin was born on the aquatic world of Mon Cala, where she grew up along with her sister Alin. During the Empire's occupation of the planet, Via and her sister smuggled themselves off-world and made it to the Anoat sector, where they became members of the local resistance against Governor Adelhard. Following the formation of the New Republic, Via decided to part ways with her sister to pursue a career in politics.

At some point, Via met and married a Mon Calamari named Gron Marrab, who went on to represent Mon Cala in the Galactic Senate. Shortly after the outbreak of the Imperial Sith War, Marrab was assassinated as part of a plot to create unrest in the New Republic and weaken them for the Crimson Empire. Via was elected Senator of Mon Cala in Marrab's place and was part of a small part of senators and generals that were skeptical of the newly-elected Chief of State Atha Prime.

After the Imperial Sith War, Via continued to serve as senator for the next ten years, participating in debates surrounding Corellia's secession and the subsequent Glorian invasion. When Chief Cal Omas announced his resignation during the height of the Glorian War, Via became one of three candidates running for the office. After the war's conclusion, Via was elected Chief of State and allowed Corellia to rejoin the Republic.

Three years later, the New Republic became embroiled in an insurgency plot instigated by the rogue Varon Krul. Agents loyal to the Sith sowed corruption throughout the Republic, weakening Via's power as Chief of State. When Varon revealed himself to the galaxy as Darth Taral, his words pushed the Senate to remove Via from office and replace her with Senator Luewet Wuul, a pawn of the Sith who unwittingly did their bidding.
