The Jedi are good warriors. But the Mandalorians are better.
Velox Ira, later known as Mandalore the Jedi (Te Jetii Mand'alor in Mand'oa) was a female Mandalorian warrior, former Jedi Knight, and member of the royal family of Onderon who eventually became Mandalore. She was born on Onderon several decades prior to the Great Galactic War, in which she fought both as a Jedi and as a Mandalorian. After the war, she became a mercenary for a number of years.
Sometime after the conclusion of the war, Ira became Mandalore, the leader of the Mandalorians. She immediately set about reorganising the Mandalorians into the elite fighting force they had been after the Great Sith War and attempted to launch a third attack on the Galactic Republic. Her plan never came into fruition, however, as Ira was killed on Tatooine while participating in the Great Hunt of 3,638 BBY. Her killer, Ovar Nihl, succeeded her as Mandalore.
Velox Ira was born in the city of Iziz, on Onderon, in 3,960 BBY during the reign of her uncle, King Thatrus. She was discovered to be Force-sensetive at the age of two by Jochi, a Jedi Master who at the time was serving as an advisor to Thratus and his court. As Ira was a direct descendant of the ancient Sith Lord Freedon Nadd, this connection to the Force was not entirely surprising for the Jedi.
After the revelation of her Force-sensetivity, Ira was taken to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to be trained in the ways of the Force. At the age of ten, she took the Jedi Initiate Trials and passed them, being accepted by Jochi as his own Jedi Padawan.
