This month, either on or before September 30th, I will be releasing the first four chapters of Star Wars: Episode I - The Chosen One, my reboot of the Star Wars Saga. I released a list of characters in the novel last year, and I wanted to take some time to give you an idea of who you will be meeting in the novel’s first four chapters when they are released.

These are only some of the major characters, as there will be other characters in these chapters. Some will have prominent roles throughout the novel, but you don’t see much of them in these first few chapters. Others I’m just keeping under wraps for now.

Michael Lars[]

I used to dream about finishing what Dad and the other rebels started, but now...
—Michael Lars

When we first meet Michael, he’s a down on his luck protagonist stuck in the past. Tragedies have shaken his confidence, and he is in a state of being unable to move forward in his life. He yearns for more, dreaming of overthrowing the evil Hutt Lords who hold an iron grip over Tatooine and much of the rest of Tatooine, but his past has a stranglehold on his present. The closest he can come to action is thinking of the stories his father told him of the Rim Wars fought decades earlier, and dream of the possibilities far beyond the endless desert horizon.

Sara Jade[]

SaraJade
The Rim isn’t a place for good people, Michael. People aren’t looking for leadership. They don’t want inspiration. They want money and pleasure.
—Sara Jade

Sara is at the forefront of Michael’s mind, as she has a great deal of history with him. Her role in his life was one of helping him cope with his tragedies, but their romantic relationship fell apart as Michael’s life stagnated. Sara sees his potential. She knows the kind of person he can be, and she wants him to be that person—but there’s a bitterness within her over the person Michael still is. This puts them at odds, yet both Michael and Sara seem to long for the days when they were together.

Is this just lust, or could there be love there?

Deacon Darklighter[]

ColonelDarklighter
You know why I’m still in the military. You know what I’m doing, what I have to do.
—Deacon Darklighter

Colonel Darklighter is a close friend of the Lars family and the leader of the Hutt military forces on the planet. Despite his military role, he is one of the few people to not be jaded and mentally crippled under the oppressive hardship of life under the far-away Hutt Lords. Deak, as his friends know him, is an idealist, someone who believes he can have a positive impact on his world’s future and wants to use his military influence to bring about that new world.

Luke Lars[]

SchneiderEdgertonManip
I know what you’re trying to do. I know what’s going to kill you.
—Luke Lars

The Rim Wars jaded many people. Luke is no exception. He is a veteran rebel from the losing side of the failed revolution against the Hutt Lords. He is protective of Michael, perhaps overly so and for many reasons, not the least of which are his experiences during the war. He does not share his friend Deak’s optimistic view of the future, no matter how much he may want to—and no matter how strongly he once believed in it too.

And more![]

These aren't the only characters you will meet, of course. As I said, some are a bit more minor, some will have larger roles but only appear briefly in these chapters, and some I'm keeping under wraps for MAJORSPOILERS reasons.

Plus, more characters will continue to be introduced moving forward. Chapters 5 and 6 will introduce you to three new characters, two of which are iconic, and then the following chapters will continue to introduce major and supporting characters.

Stay tuned for more updates!
