Rise of the Empire era

The Union Armed Forces—the military arm of the Union Government. Combined with the forces of Earth's nations and armies, the Armed Forces stands as the most powerful military force on the planet.
—General Radford Redforge

The Union Armed Forces, also known as Armed Forces of the Union Government, was the military arm of the Union of Earth States which was founded in 81 BBY. The Armed Forces were established by Jax Horain and constituted by the Constitution of the Union of Earth States.

The Armed Forces were led by the Marshal of the Armed Forces, however due to the Federalists' grip over the Union, the Office of the Armed Forces Marshal held little real power when it came to decisions regarding the state of the military and was merely a puppet for the High Council.

History[]

When the Union of Earth States was founded in 81 BBY, the Armed Forces came into existence and united all of the military forces of every nation, state, kingdom, empire, republic and government on Earth into a single structure and were to be led by the Marshal of the Armed Forces, who was originally called the General of the Military.

First Crusade[]

The Union Armed Forces were mobilized in 71 BBY during the First Crusade where they were given orders to carry out a conquest against the Crusaders throughout the conflict's duration. After three years of building an experimental warship, the Armed Forces introduced the Union-class warship Saviour and used it to great effect against the Crusaders, absolutely decimating their forces and eventually killed the remaining Crusaders.

Deactivation[]

Following the end of the Union Civil War in 57 BBY, the Union Armed Forces were deactivated after the majority of the Senate had voted to prevent another civil war from occurring again. Almost all of its personnel were allowed to return to their homes and be with their families, which was seen as a positive decision by the people.

First Earth Civil War[]

However in a state of emergency in 21 BBY, the Armed Forces were reactivated once again after Jane Zarkan and the Traditionalist Party seceded from the Union, forming the Confederate States of Earth; this also crippled the military as over 67% of its personnel became part of the Confederate States Forces.

Organization[]

Headquarters[]

The Union Armed Forces were headquartered in Nortalia's capital of Williamtown and were led by the Marshal of the Armed Forces who was in turn led by the Union High Council, which mainly consisted of Federalist Party members.

The Union Armed Forces consisted of three main branches: Army, Navy and Air Force. These branches were also part of departments; the Department of the Army, Department of the Navy and the Department of the Air Force.

There was also the Union States Special Operations Command which was the department responsible for all special operations forces that were part of the Union Armed Forces. Despite the majority of the Armed Forces being under the command through the Federalist Party's High Council, this department was mainly full of Traditionalist Party sympathizers and were aware of the Federalist's corruption.
