Tyson Dumiel was a male Human Jedi Master who lived during the New Sith Wars. A Corellian by birth, Dumiel was passionate about Corellian causes and very loyal to his homeworld.
Biography[]
Republic service[]
As a Jedi Knight, Tyson took a Padawan named Hybelle, though she was killed in battle at some point prior to 1,386 BBY.
The Corellian Jedi[]
Over time, Dumiel began to believe that the Corellian Jedi (both from Corellia itself and the other Five Brothers) should defend the Corellian sector rather than diffusing their efforts throughout the galaxy. When Republic forces actually encountered a Sith scout force in the Corellian system, Dumiel called a conclave of Corellian Jedi in 1,387 BBY to propose the recreation of the Corellian Jedi as a separate sect—loyal to the light side, but defending Corellia rather than answering to the summons of the Galactic Senate and the Jedi High Council. The opposition, led by Nawsa Arodion and Mali Darakhan, prevailed, but Dumiel became one of Diktat Neran Daikros's advisors.
After Vedya Gasald conquered Allanteen Six in 1,386 BBY, Dumiel was among those advocating Corellia's invocation of Contemplanys Hermi. When Mali proposed an invasion to free Milagro instead, Dumiel backed the effort not as an alternative, but as a complement to his own plan.
Increasing tensions[]
Dumiel volunteered to attend the Commenori Economic Roundtable as a bodyguard for Galera and Satir Solo, but Nawsa Arodion went instead. Dumiel escorted King Jedossen e Solo to Commenor and stood guard over Galera's hospital room until she died. After the Solos were assassinated, Dumiel offered Arodion some consolation, but tried to convince her to join the Green Jedi.
In 1,384 BBY, Darth Alecto kidnapped Jendaya Rose and killed Nawsa Arodion. Arodion's final request of the Corellian Jedi was to pursue no vengeance against Alecto, and as devastated as he was by his colleague's death, Dumiel felt compelled to oblige her wishes. However, he vocally supported a standoffish, nearly militant response to Rose's kidnapping, particularly when it emerged that Morid Dosio had conspired to have Rose assassinated. Tirien Kal-Di considered Dumiel one of the most prominent voices supporting positions which might lead to war between Corellia and Osarian (and thence to war with the Republic).
About a month after Arodion's death, Mali walked out of a meeting of Corellian leaders in protest over their militance, taking most of the Green Jedi with him. When Corsica Solo proposed Mali replacing Eymus Dorr as Supreme Commander of the Corellian Defense Force, Tyson came around to the idea, and even when it mutated into what ultimately became the Lord Protector of Corellia, Tyson both supported Mali's appointment and Mali becoming Grand Master of the Green Jedi.
Counseling the Lord Protector[]
Tyson's dream was realized when Mali called the Corellian sector's Jedi home, and all but Elmir answered. Tyson, along with Mali and Ainar, formed the first High Council of the renewed Corellian Jedi. However, he still took to the field, including escorting Jedossen e Solo and Corsica during the traditional Festival of Stars tour of the Five Brothers. He also assisted in training Sunchelu, freeing Mali to focus on his security responsibilities.
When Mali championed Nal and Kadelle Chun against Corellia's justice system, Tyson counseled him against rash action, fearing he could diminish public confidence in the Green Jedi by overextending his authority. He was chilly toward the Chuns, disgusted at their endangering Corellian citizens, but, at Ainar's urging, tried to help them appreciate Corellian culture in the interest of their not disappointing Mali.
Powers and abilities[]
Tyson was a capable duelist, able to match Ainar Zylorus.
Appearance and personality[]
A tall, strongly built man at 1.84 meters, Tyson wore his brown hair long and his beard somewhat shaggy. He had green eyes and tan skin, and, despite being a Jedi Guardian, carried a lightsaber with a green blade as a sign of solidarity with Corellia.
Tyson had a fervent, stormy personality; many Jedi considered him as intense as a Jedi Master could possibly be. He was ardently pro-Corellian, and advocated Corellian separatism, particularly when he felt Corellia was being ill-used by the Republic. However, after Mali Darakhan became Lord Protector, Tyson maintained public solidarity with Mali, though he did not hesitate to criticize Mali privately.
