Tya'bra (Mando'a for Starskulls) was a Mandalorian pirate gang led by Chop'aa Notimo.

History[]

The Starskulls were formed during the Great Clan Wars by Chop'aa, a high-ranking member of Clan Notimo, which was part of the Death Watch confederation. With a fleet of various gunships stolen from MandalMotors shipyards, the Starskulls preyed on civilian merchants as well as Republic warships. They also often operated as treasure hunters; during one hunt, Chop'aa acquired a Basilisk war droid which he refurbished and modified into a starfighter (that was still capable of fighting in ground combat). At the height of the Clone Wars, Chop'aa and his pirates were contracted by the Confederacy of Independent Systems and smuggled supplies to Supercommando groups, who also opposed the Republic. In the onset of the Imperial era, the Starskulls became involved with the Black Sun and began preying on Hutt Cartel-aligned smugglers. They also collaborated with the Blaster Brethren, which was another Mandalorian pirate gang, at least once during an attack on an Imperial convoy. During this time, a Gungan bounty hunter (and formerly one of Jar Jar Binks' security guards) named Kleef became one of Notimo's lieutenants. The Starskulls were eventually defeated by Commodore Mogge (who would also later defeat the Blaster Brethren), and after briefly going into hiding, Chop'aa relocated to Bespin, where he acquired a mercenary company and operated as a small-time crime lord until he was killed by Galen Marek after capturing senator Garm Bel Iblis during Notimo's assault on Cloud City.
