The True Jedi Alliance Rebellion was the fight between the True Jedi Alliance and the New Jedi Order. It began when Vrool Katare and Ouiga Vod succumbed to the dark side and created a Sith sect out of the Order. Realizing that there would be few Sith left in the galaxy after the Galactic Civil War, they decided to pretend to be "nobler" Jedi. They put on the charade that they thought the Order was too violent and too focused on the combat-applicable uses of the Force. They then traveled to several planets, tricking many into believing their story, sometime using mind tricks, all the while planning their first attack on the Jedi Order. At first, they were thought to be too small to cause any harm. The NJO ignored them, until the day they had enough members so that they might hurt the Jedi or the New Republic.

It should be noted that the TJA's Rebellion never escalated to a full war, even though there were battles in it. This is largely due to Katare's slow approach to fighting, which gave the Republic plenty of time to build up a strong initial attack. Because of its relatively small impact on galactic history, it is usually panned over by historians.

Battles[]

Skirmish Over Onderon (19 ABY)[]

While the Alliance waited to become stronger before attacking, the New Republic and the NJO finally saw them as large enough to be a threat. The Order, with the aid of several Republic fighters, launched the first attack of the war. 20 A-9 Vigilance interceptors and eight Y-Wings, with two StealthXs leading them, were sent to intercept the TJA's YT-2570 and handful of stolen fighters. The battle began lopsided and tilted even farther in the Republic's favor when Vrool decided to use the chaos as cover for disposing of some students he thought would never become proper Sith. The only real challenge for the New Republic came when Evon Gane exited hyperspace, expecting to regroup with the Alliance. Seeing they were in trouble, Evon quickly joined the battle, destroying three Y-Wings and four A-9s in all. But his ship too was disabled, sending him drifting towards Kashyyyk.

First Battle of Ossus (36 ABY)[]

The next battle came 17 years after the first, which had left the TJA crippled. Vrool had rebuilt the Alliance quickly, and had set up a base on Ossus. When the New Jedi Order set up a conclave there as well, Katare organized an attack, his followers now numbering in the hundreds. The True Jedi stormed the temple just as many Jedi were leaving, giving them the element of surprise. But that was not enough to win the battle, for the Order outnumbered them three to one. The Alliance was promptly destroyed, with only two surviving members, including Katare, while the Jedi only lost three Knights. The TJA was forced to rebuild again but the process was slowed down thanks to the Republic's frequent publicizing of the victory. Although the Alliance lasted for many years after Ossus, it ended up collapsing before another attacked could be launched. The First Battle of Ossus was also the last battle of the True Jedi Alliance Rebellion.

Legacy[]

Because the Alliance took so few lives and because they failed to create any significant change in the Order, the TJA was considered a failure, and so their Rebellion was often ignored due to its unimportance compared to other conflicts in the galaxy at the time. Historians and teachers often skipped over the True Jedi Alliance Rebellion in favor of more important galactic events.
