The Trade Federation was a consortium of trade organizations and guild with its own fleet. It eventually dominated a large number of star systems and trade routes, holding a monopoly of trade in systems in the Mid and Outer Rim. At the suggestion of the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, Viceroy Nute Gunray blockaded and then occupied Naboo under the supervision of the Sith Darth Maxah. The occupation ended with the Battle of Naboo and Gunray and his associates were made to answer for their actions through the courts.
