Why have we come to this hive of scum and villainy, child? Have the Jedi fallen this far?
—Lord Karros to Suri Sunrunner

The Torque and Grip was a privately owned casino and club located in the Starlight Galactic Plaza on the Galactic Republic ecumenopolis of Taris that commanded a breathtaking view of the ruins of the Jedi Tower. The Jedi Apostate Suri Sunrunner traveled here during her self-imposed exile following the end of the Mandalorian Wars, and it is implied that she was discreetly a frequent patron of the club while still a Jedi, prior to her travels with the Force ghost of the Pureblood Sith Lord Karros.

It was here, on the club's exterior dining patio overlooking the Tower ruins, that Karros discussed the nature of just leadership and the Philosopher-king concept with the Jedi Apostate, and the Force's will in selecting only some sentients for Force-sensitivity.

The casino was destroyed in the 3956 BBY Destruction of Taris, along with the plaza in which it sat.

Behind the scenes[]

The Torque and Grip is a reference to a Bay Area Buggs video. The author needed a name for a casino on Coruscant (moved to Taris), and thought the Torque and Grip sounded like an acceptable option. The club is a vague, Old Republic-era reference to the canon Outlander Club from Episode II.
