Toomberry was a planet in the Grohl sector of the Outer Rim Territories. It was believed to have been named after the toomberry plant of Ghorganchu. A labor world, it was often used by large corporations to mass produce products for sale in the Core, Colonies, and Inner Rim. Republic laws were ignored in the Toomberry system, resulting in numerous sentient rights abuses such as forced labor, slavery, and sentient trafficking. The planet was considered a micro-jump away from the Triellus Trade Route.

History[]

Settled on numerous occasions from about 1,000 BBY, it had a permanent population by 450 BBY. A slaver nobility developed on the planet but it was disbanded by a team of Jedi in 183 BBY. The Eshkorites, a Klorrean family, took control afterward but they allowed the slavery to continue, even convincing several galactic corporations to take advantage of the cheap labor and set up numerous factories on the world. By 150 BBY, they were already importing slaves from Nosa Republica. During the Galactic Civil War the Eshkorites secretly supported the Alliance to Restore the Republic but the planet was not allowed to join the Alliance of Free Planets or the New Republic because of its position on slavery. After the 23 ABY Emancipation on Nosa Republica, the Toomberry-Republica Slave Pipeline fell out of use and Toomberry could no longer replace its rapidly dying workers to keep up with corporate production demands and the economy fell apart.
