An unspecified number of years after the end of the Jedi Civil War, the redeemed Jedi Revan journeys to the Sith world of Korriban, feeling drawn to the planet by a series of visions of the shyrack cave near the Valley of the Dark Lords. There, she discovers the Tomb of Ludo Kressh and ventures inside, where she is forced to confront visions invoked by the dark side as she searches for answers.
Behind the scenes
Through Glass was written out of a desire on the author's part to write something set around the Knights of the Old Republic games, but without drawbacks of a larger story that would have an increased production time due to a more connected plot. Though initially intended to be a short story that could be produced without the pressure of being part of a series, Through Glass turned out to take the length of a novella at about 18,900 words.
The other main purpose of Through Glass was to help lead into a potential future novel by establishing the character of Revan and fleshing out her personality. To produce a set of circumstances which would be ideal for this purpose, the author took inspiration from Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords. In the game, the player character, the Jedi Exile, enters a tomb on Korriban, where she/he is forced to face visions that prompt one to question the character's motivations for actions made in the past. Thus, it was decided that placing Revan in the same circumstances would be relatively easy to write and put an interesting spin on a familiar location.
