Theresa Zavarai was a Coruscanti Human female politician who served as member of the Congress of Coruscant, before serving five terms as its president. She married a fellow congressman, Marcus Caladar, who adopted her surname. With him she had two twin daughters, Mara and Elena Zavarai. Mara followed into her mother's footsteps and also entered politics, being elected to the Congress of Coruscant, later becoming its president. She was the grandmother of Caspian Zavarai, who became a Dark Lord of the Sith, and Connor Zavarai, who entered politics and later represented the people of Coruscant as its senator. She was fiercely loyal to the Galactic Republic and greatly detested both the Sith and their empire.
She was a devoted family woman and loved her family very much. When she was informed that Mara and her husband Kay had been killed during the Sacking of Coruscant, she was overcome with sadness and inconsolable. As Caspian was presumed dead as well, Theresa mourned her grandson as well. Unbeknownst to her, Caspian had in fact survived, having been abducted by the Sith Lord Darth Zavakon, eventually becoming the Emperor's Wrath. When she learned of Caspian's survival through a news story she watched on the HoloNet, she was horrifed to see that her grandson had become a Sith Lord and was now serving the Republic's mortal enemies.
