The Tolonda Protectorate was an Imperial splinter faction turned democratic republic that existed during the time period of 6 - 41 ABY. It often existed as an extension of other factions, typically larger Imperial organizations and later the Galactic Alliance before finally being absorbed into Thrackan-Sal Solo's Confederation. Though still an authoritarian military state when under the leadership of Grann Nelthon Gustiov the Third, it was said to be slightly more benevolent than other Imperial factions due to its increased sapient rights and its pseudo-democratic nature.

History[]

Pre-founding[]

After the mysterious death of Grand Moff Ravik in 3 ABY, the Tolonda Oversector's head of naval forces - a human-miraluka hybrid by the name of Grann Gustiov the Third, begrudgingly took his place after all of the other moffs proved to be unfit for assuming the responsibility of ruling over an entire oversector. Grann looked into the mysterious circumstances behind the end of Ravik and much to his horror, he discovered that not only were the fabled Charon real, but they were responsible for the Battle of Stronghold as well as the death of Ravik. As a result, he started to assemble a secret armada in the Cloak of the Sith using anything from purpose-built warships, converted civilian vessels and even the use of self-replicating factories to produce a fleet to fight the Charon. He even went as far as to convert Moff Ravik's fleet of Mon Calamari and SoroSuub luxury liners into warships, not unlike what the Rebellion had done.

In 4 ABY, Emperor Palpatine concocted a plan to defeat the Rebellion once and for all, a plan that almost succeeded. As apart of the plan, he decided that no Imperial forces outside of those assigned to protect the Death Star II would be allowed to partake in the upcoming Battle of Endor. However, due to the death of the Emperor and also the loss of Imperial forces over the planet - including Darth Vader's flagship Executor, a distress call was sent to any nearby Imperial forces. Grann answered the distress call and dispatched his flagship, the Mandator II-class Star Dreadnought Janeria along with a small taskforce to defeat the Rebellion. However, on the way, Grann was stopped by the interdictors of Rebel Admiral Firmus Nantz' fleet and was forced to retreat after nearly being overwhelmed by someone many would consider to be his equal.

To make things worse for the Empire, rebel cells and pirates were starting to claim more and more of Imperial space, including the Tolonda Oversector. As a result, the current leader of the Empire, Ciutric-born Sate Pestage, offered Grann a chance to return to his duties as high admiral, an offer he gladly accepted. His daughter, Janeria Nelthon Gustiov, took his position as grand moff - an act that many criticized as nepotistic. Despite this, she was known for being a competent leader during these times. After facing a wide range of enemies including Rebels, pirates, the Hutts and Imperial Warlords amongst others, Grann finally claimed full control of the Tolonda Oversector as well as some of its surrounding territories. However, due to the mysterious death of Sate Pestage in 6 ABY, Imperial leadership shifted to Imperial Security Bureau Director Ysanne Isard. This was the catalyst for the creation of the Tolonda Protectorate, for High Admiral Gustiov did not trust Ysanne Isard's leadership.

Grann's Empire[]

After persuading his daughter to defect from what he saw as a corrupt husk of the New Order, Grann consolidated all of his forces to the 14th as well as parts of the 13th, 15th and 17th Oversectors.
