The Mure was the historical name for the Mure system, an artificially created star system of a single planet that sat atop the galactic bulge 15,750 light years directly above Galactic Center. During the lead-up to the Celestial-Rakata War, the system was artificially constructed by the Celestials to serve as a fortified emplacement overlooking the Mortis Line, a hyperspace barrier created to keep the Rakata contained to the Unknown Regions.[1] As the system could be poetically conceived as being a castle stronghold atop the hill that was the galactic bulge, it was called "the Mure," from an archaic word meaning "fortified hill."

Behind the scenes[]

The Mure and the origins of its name are both references to the French commune of La Mure, which itself was believed to have been named after the fortified hilltop upon which its medieval castle was built.[2]
