The Force was a metaphysical, binding, and ubiquitous power that held enormous importance for both the Jedi and Sith orders as well as certain other orders and people. The Force was viewed in many different aspects, including the Light side, the Dark side, the Unifying Force, and the Living Force. The first two aspects were concerned with the moral compass of the Force in its various manifestations. The light side of the Force was the facet aligned with compassion, courage, healing, and benevolence, while the dark side of the Force was the element aligned with hatred, fear, aggression, and malevolence. The latter two aspects were defined by prominent Jedi philosophies: The Unifying Force essentially embraced space and time in its entirety while the Living Force dealt with the energy of living things. The Force existed inside all life forms, but only certain beings possessed a strong connection to it, most notably the Jedi, Sith and Dark Jedi.
Some beings, particularly the Sith, believed that the dark side of the Force was more powerful than the light, though it was possible that the dark side was just more tempting to those who used it (or desired to use it). Others thought of the Force as an entity capable of intelligent thought, almost as a sort of god. Anakin Skywalker, who was believed to have been conceived by the Force itself, may have; if this belief is correct; lent credit towards the view of the Force as a sentient entity.
Though the Force was thought to flow through every living thing, it could only be harnessed by beings described as "Force-sensitive". This Force-sensitivity was correlated with, and sometimes attributed to, a high count of internal micro-organisms called midi-chlorians that were found in a Force-sensitive's blood: the higher the count, the greater the being's potential Force ability. Force-sensitive beings were able to tap into the Force to perform acts of great skill and agility as well as control and shape the world around them. Sometimes this ability was described as having a strong Force "aura".
The Light side of the Force[]
The light side of the Force was concerned with the ideals of good, selflessness, compassion, benevolence, and healing. Followers of the light side strove to live in harmony with the world around them, acting out of wisdom and logic rather than anger and hasty judgment. In order to achieve harmony with the light side of the Force, its practitioners would often meditate to clear themselves of emotion; particularly negative emotions such as aggression, fear, anger, and hatred, since these were thought to bring on acceptance of the dark side.
The Jedi Order[]
The Jedi Order were the most notable users of the Light side of the Force.who strove to maintain peace and justice throughout the galaxy. The values of the light side were culminated in the Jedi Code. The Jedi accepted the view on the two sides of the Force: the dark side and the light side. A follower of the light side tried to live in harmony with those around him. Mutual trust, respect, and the ability to form alliances gave the Jedi their distinct advantage over the Sith. In contrast, a follower of the dark side uses the dark side of the force, usually for himself or herself. Use of the dark side of the Force was forbidden within the Jedi Order, and was strictly considered the domain of the Sith.
Traditional Jedi were keen to keep the Force "in balance". They attempted to achieve this by destroying the Sith and denying the dark side—essentially "keeping balance" by restoring the Force to its natural state, as they viewed the dark side as "corruption". This involved the purging of negative emotions such as aggression, anger, and hatred, since they could easily bring on acceptance of the dark side. In contrast, positive emotions such as compassion and courage nurtured the light side of the Force. The Jedi Code compared such feelings and provided insight into the ethical use of the Force.
Passion was considered dangerous, as it could lead to strong emotions that could unbalance the Jedi and lead them to the Dark Side. Love was, curiously enough, something both Jedi and Sith avoided. While the Jedi espoused a broad, all-encompassing, self-sacrificing love for all beings, love for another being—romance, a possessive love by nature—was shunned in the Jedi Order and most Jedi didn't realise that love was as much a source of strength as it was a source of weakness, if not more so. Most Jedi viewed love as a danger best left untouched.
The Dark side of the Force[]
The dark side of the Force was considered by the Jedi to be the element aligned with fear, hatred, selfishness, aggression, and malice. Such emotions seemed to increase the strength and abilities of a user of the dark side, providing a path towards personal power and the destruction or control of all opposition. It was generally accepted that use of the dark side of the Force was extremely addictive. Dark side Jedi are known as dark Jedi. Some light Jedi, such as Anakin Skywalker use Dark side powers and Skywalker sometimes used Force Choke.
The Sith Order[]
The Sith Order changed throughout history; it started off as having many Sith Lords in it, trying to work together in order to destroy the Jedi Order and rule the Galaxy. However Sith Lords virtually always wanted power and therefore fought among themselves in order to get it, killing each other many times. Because of their inability to work together the original Sith Order was flawed. It changed several times but it was the Sith Lord Darth Bane, the prophecised Sith'ari, that made the change that turned out to be best for the Sith.
Darth Bane considered the Force to be finite and thus ideally for exclusive use by the Dark Lord. He eliminated the practice of having vast numbers of Sith at the same time, thereby aiming to concentrate the dark side of the Force into two individuals: a Sith Master and his or her apprentice. This was known as the 'Rule of Two' and this turned out to be what was best for the Sith; numerous Sith fought among each other but having only two Sith would allow them to use subtlety, cunning and secrecy to achieve their goals and the apprentice would only turn on the Master once they had learned all they could.
Notably Darth Sidious broke the Rule of Two as he started training Darth Maul before he murdered his master Darth Plagueis.
The Living Force[]
The Living Force was a view on the Force accepted by the majority of Jedi throughout ages. The Living Force was thought to be present in most living beings, surrounding and penetrating them, thus making all living things connected by it. The Jedi believing in Living Force relied on their instincts and were attuned to other living beings around them. They were mindful of the future and the possible consequences of their actions, but remained focused on the present. The Living Force was viewed as having both the Light and the Dark side. The Jedi always had to be mindful of their actions to avoid the temptations of the Dark side. Through following the Living Force, several Jedi were able to retain their identities after their physical death, becoming one with the Force and able to manifest themselves as Force ghosts. Proponents of the Living Force view, such as Qui-Gon Jinn, espoused a philosophy of "living in the moment," relied heavily on their instincts and concentrated more on sensitivity to living things, rather than fulfilling destiny, which was one of the main tenets of the Unifying Force philosophy.
The Unifying Force[]
The concept of the Unifying Force found less supporters within the Jedi Order than the Living Force. The concept of the Unifying Force was that the Force is a single entity and has neither a light nor the dark side. The Unifying Force was viewed as a deity that neither had sides nor chose them, treating all beings equally. Followers of the Unifying Force always kept their eyes for future possibilities. In the end, it resulted in them trying to fulfill a destiny rather than focusing on here and now, as the Living Force supporter would do.
Visions of the future were of particular significance to Unifying Force supporters, such as Yoda, who was one of the most adamant proponents of this belief. Many other Jedi were followers of the Unifying Force, and focused on the flow of time as a whole, ignoring primary use of the Living Force. Voices for the latter espoused a philosophy of "live for the moment" and heavily relied on their instincts. This viewpoint might have allowed the Jedi Order to stave off the Clone Wars and the consequences of the war, as its members lost themselves in looking forward rather than analyzing the unfolding events before them.
Ironically, Darth Sidious supported this belief. He claimed that there was only one Force: the only difference worthy of note was that the Sith saw the Force as a means to an end while the Jedi saw it as an end in itself.
Force powers[]
Force powers were the manifestations of a Jedi, Sith, or other Force-adept's connection with the Force. These powers were supernatural abilities not described by scientists. The powers were usually taught by Force-using organizations, but there were examples of individual, self-improving methods of learning to use the Force. There were many kinds of Force powers, but not all were available to a single person, since some of them required a deep connection with the Force or one side of the Force and others were secret or very rare.
Light and Dark side powers[]
A lot of Force powers were used by both light side users and dark side users. Many of them were uncommon and not an integral part of basic Jedi training.
Battle Meditation[]
Battle Meditation was a Force ability which considerably boosted the morale, stamina, and overall battle prowess of an individual's allies while simultaneously reducing the opposition's combat-effectiveness by eroding their will to fight. With the Force, one could coordinate entire fleets of ships, allowing them to perform at maximum efficiency, acting as a single entity with the ability to counter every enemy move quickly and effectively. Though ideal for meditating large-scale conflicts, Battle Meditation was equally effective when employed for the benefit of one's comrades in small skirmishes, attacks, and duels. However even this awesome power had its limits.

Breath Control[]
Using Breath Control Jedi could literally numb the body's instinct to shut itself down after long periods without oxygen, allowing the user to be able to go without breathing for longer periods than he or she ordinarily could by using the Force to reserve the amounts of air in the lungs. It was believed that some users of the technique could hold their breath for hours or even days with this power. This ability used independently, however, would not prevent anything entering or leaving the respiratory system of the user. In some cases, the user would require some kind of Force Barrier in, or around the nose/throat region to keep poisonous gases or water out. The necessity of such a barrier would depend on the air/water pressure in the direct vicinity, and the user's ability to naturally seal their airways. This was a very effective ability in situations where the air was very thin, underwater, or in any environment with toxic fumes.
Notable users
Combustion []
Combustion was a Force ability that allowed users to cause an object explode by sheer force of will. It was rarely used on a person, and the effects on inanimate objects and persons was devastating. Depending on the size, density and vulnerability of the object in question, combustion would become harder or easier to use successfully. It is disputed whether combustion could be prevented and stopped if another force user concentrated on an object to prevent it from exploding. This may have cancelled it out, or it may have done nothing.
Notable users
Force Absorb []
Force Absorb was a power where the user would absorb the opponents attack into their bare hands. This technique only worked against Force powers most notably Force Lightning, but it could be used to absorb Force Pushes or similar. After absorbing the enemy attack, the user could re-channel it to another location or the same one, use it to power one's own abilities, or regain one's strength.
Notable users
Force Acrobatics[]
Force Acrobatics was a power that allowed the user would use the Force to flip and spin using the speed of their maneuvers not only to attack but avoid the oponents attacks. This ability was essential for users of the acrobatic Ataru form of lightsaber combat, such as Yoda.
Notable users

Force Barrier[]
Force Barrier was both an offensive and defensive Force power, aligned neither with the light or dark sides of the Force, that created a barrier or wall of Force energy around the intended target, be it self, friend, or foe. If formed around the user it should protect them for a limited amount of time though it was possible to break through a Force Barrier depending on the proficiency of the user and the strength of their connection to the Force.
If formed around a foe it could stop them from using attacks because using a powerful attack such as Force Repulse would injure or maybe even kill the user. However it was possible to break out of a Force Barrier depending on how proficient the user of the Force Barrier was. Also if the trapped person had a considerably stronger connection to the Force than the person using the Barrier they could bust their way out. A darker variant of Force Barrier was to make the Barrier shrink, squeezing the victim on the inside but only an advanced user was able to do this.
Notable users
Force Cloak []
Force Cloak was a power where the user would bend light and sound waves around them rendering them invisible. However they could still be sensed through the Force. It demanded a great deal of concentration in order to maintain.
An alternate version of Force Cloak was to affect the minds of those around them in a way similar to the Jedi mind trick or Force persuasion. The user could remove all traces of their presence from the mind of observers and move completely unnoticed while in plain sight. This variant was even harder than the other one.
Notable users
Force Concealment/Stealth[]
Force Concealment or Force Stealth was a technique used to hide the user from Force Sense. It didn't actually render the users invisible unless combined with Force Cloak. It could be used to hide their dark or light nature or even their entire presence.
Notable users
Force Deflection[]
Force Deflection was a technique where the user would telekinetically deflect the opponents attack. This was useful when a Jedi had lost their lightsaber. It took quite a lot of skill in the Force to use this, however, and most Jedi used their lightsabers instead to deflect incoming attacks. Some users would send the attack back at the opponent while others would just stop it giving them time to retrieve their lightsaber or get out of the way.
Notable users
Force Flight[]
Force Flight was a Force power that enabled the user to telekinectically move themselves toward a specific destination, taking levitation to an extreme degree. This could also be used to survive an otherwise fatal fall. To use this Force power took a great deal of concentration. Although there was nothing malicious about using Force Flight, all of the currently known practitioners were either Sith Lords or Dark Jedi.
Notable users
Force Grip[]
Force Grip could be used to levitate and strangle a target's internal organs. However, the primary purpose was to immobilize or control a target's movement and choking the target to death could be secondary. The target could be seized with great strength and subsequently lifted off their feet and suspended in the air by a powerful user. Force Grip was neither a dark nor a light side ability, as a Jedi could use it to peacefully immobilize an opponent. Force Grip could also be applied to objects.
Notable users
Force Illusion[]
Force Illusion was a technique where the user projected an image into the minds of beings within range, of anything from a pillar of fire to a horde of snarling monsters to a fleet of warships, depending on the range. The key differences between a Force illusion and a hologram is that unlike a hologram, the illusion could be controlled mentally and was limited only by the imagination of the user. Even more importantly, a Force illusion did not merely affect the sight of a creature. Since it was projected directly into the brain of the creature, it appeared on all of the creature's senses, from hearing to smell to senses such as echolocation. Even viewing it through an electronic system such as a cybernetic eye or camera was of no use if the creature was within range of the illusion during its duration, the creature would "see" it with the system as if the illusion were actually there, though any playback after the illusion had ended would reveal nothing at all.

Force Jump[]
Force Jump was an ability that allowed the user to leap long distances. All Force users could use this ability to some degree.

Force Kick []
A variant of Force Push, Force Kick was used by the foot instead of the hand. The user kicked the opponent and used the Force to give the kick more power sending the opponent further back than an ordinary kick would. Most Force users found it easier to just use Force Push.
Notable users
Force Pull[]
Force Pull was a Telekinetic power that allowed the user to pull objects or beings towards them. Jedi often used this to summon their lightsabers if they were disarmed. A practitioner of Niman would use this power while using the Draw Closer technique.
Notable users
All Force users
Force Push[]
Force Push was a Telekinetic power that allowed the user to shove their opponents back. Like all Force powers the strength of the push depended on the strength of the users connection to the Force. A skilled user could hurl their opponents a long way, with enough force to daze them or knock them unconscious when they collided with something. This was probably the most basic Force power but nevertheless useful. Force pushes could also be used to press buttons that were out of reach or shove an object out of the way. A Niman practitioner would use this power when utilising the Pushing Slash.

Force Repulse []
Force Repulse was a powerful Telekinetic blast that exploded out of the users body. The user created sharp, visible kinetic ripples in space, which expanded outward rapidly, flinging nearby objects away at high velocity. The power only affected objects a certain distance away from the user, and therefore anyone could avoid its effects by moving closer to the user.
Notable users
Force Sense[]
Force Sense was one of the most basic Force abilities for a Jedi. It could be used to feel another being's feelings, see the future via Force Visions (though Force Vision was officially a different Force power, it did have some relation to Force Sense), feel ripples in the Force caused by momentous or traumatic events, sense impending danger and sense the presence of the dark side. Force users were also able to sense others without relying on their physical senses. It was possible for semi-sentient species to have Force Sense.
Notable users
All Force users
Force Speed[]
Force Speed allowed the user to increase their speed to a high level, being able to move blindingly fast. It could be used to get somewhere quickly or it could be used in combat. For example Mace Windu used Force Speed when he was ultilising Vaapad or sometimes when he was fighting with his bare hands.
Notable users
Force Strength[]
Force Strength was a power that allowed the user to increase their physical strength by filling their muscles with the Force.
Notable users
Force Vision[]
Force Visions were, put simply, the ability to see into the future. They could be used to see years, decades, centuries or even millennia into the future. Force Visions were very unpredictable and could occur at any time. Some Force users meditated to try and get Force Visions but it more often happened when the user was least expecting it. Some people could have Force Visions in their sleep and others could have them in the middle of a battle which could be dangerous because the user would get distracted. A Force user did not actually need any training to use Force Vision since one could never predict when they were going to be hit by one.
Notable users
Force Wave[]
Force Wave was a more advanced version of Force Push which was capable of throwing numerous opponents in one go, whereas Force Push could only push a single opponent.
Notable users
Force Weapon[]
Force Weapon was a Force ability that allowed the user to imbue an unpowered weapon with the Force for a brief period of time. By channeling energy into the weapon, it allowed the wielder to strike and do more damage than the weapon's simple appearance would suggest. As a useful side effect, a Force-imbued weapon could be used to block lightsabers without damaging the weapon.
Notable users
Force Whirlwind[]
Force Whirlwind was a Telekinetic power where the user would alter the air currents around an opponent, turning it into a maelstrom. This swirling force would lift an opponent into the air, spin them around, and completely immobilize them.
Notable users
Levitation[]
Levitation was a Force power that allowed Jedi to suspend themselves against the force of gravity. Using the Force, an individual could then hover in place.
Floating Meditation
Force users that practiced Levitation were usually able to use Floating Meditation. This was a form of Meditation where one meditated while using the Force to float several inches off the ground.
Notable users
Precognision[]
Precognision was an ability that allowed the user to sense danger a few seconds before the danger strikes. It could be considered a far less advanced version of Force Visions. Precognision was used by Jedi to deflect blaster bolts and it allowed them to move their lightsaber into the correct position to defend themselves. It could be used to forsee an opponents attack sometimes before the opponent themselves knew they were going to use it. However unlike Force Visions, Precognision could only be used to see a few seconds into the future. Nevertheless it was useful in combat.

Psychometry[]
Psychometry was a mental technique of picking up impressions and traces of information about the object touched and the events that have surrounded it. This power allowed the user to view events as if they were there, including the sights, sounds, and feelings, both emotional and physical, that the wielder of the object experienced. This power was easier to use on personal objects that were used frequently. Objects that were used once or by several people often made the use of this power difficult, though it was still possible. This skill was useful for tracking though it was not useful in open battle and would fail to render useful information at times.
The Jedi Council strongly discouraged the use of psychometry on dead bodies as the emotions prior to a violent death are usually so strong that the deceased would have likely brushed with the dark side. This endangered Jedi by exposing them to these powerful emotions.

Sever Force[]
Sever Force was a non lethal Force power by which a being's connection to the Force was interrupted, or blocked from them with a wall of Force energy. According to the ancient Jedi scholar Odan-Urr, severing an individual's Force connection was the most powerful attack a Jedi could perform. This technique could permanently destroy an opponents connection to the Force but sometimes the effects were only temporary. It could depend on how strong the opponent was in the Force; one with a weak connection could not regain it but one with a strong connection could regain it. It's debateable about whether it's a light side power or a dark side power; on one hand it could be used to settle things peacefully with an enemy Force user but on the other hand, severing a opponents connection to the Force could be horrible expecially if it was permanent; it could destroy an enemies sense of purpose and make them feel they wouldn't amount to anything. This power was forgotten by the time Yoda was born.
Notable users
Shatterpoint[]
Shatterpoint was a rare ability that allowed the user to see weak points in living beings, events, objects, locations and everyday life. It could only be used by immense concentration, unless the user had the ability from birth, in which case it was natural to them. Having the Shatterpoint ability from birth was extremely rare. Shatterpoint could be used to sense when something was weakening and could also smash otherwise unbreakable objects by channelling the Force into the parts of the object that held it together

Telekinesis[]
Telekinesis was a neutral ability that all Force-sensitives had in varying degrees. With it, they could lift objects, or sometimes even living beings, with their minds and move them in any direction. Depending on the proficiency of the user, and their strength in the Force, Telekinesis could be used to move tiny or enormous objects. A person with a weak connection to the Force could only move small objects, even with training, while a person with a strong connection could move large ones. For example, Yoda was able to move massive objects because of centuries of training and a prodigiously powerful connection to the Force. However if the user was weak in the Force, no amount of training could let them lift large objects.
Some Force users could use Telekinesis instinctively without having actually been trained.
Telekinesis was the most commonly used Force power and was the base of Force Push, Force Pull, Force Whirlwind, Force Repulse, Force Choke, Force Grip, Force Crush, Force Flight, Levitation and Telekinetic lightsaber combat.

Telekinetic lightsaber combat[]
Telekinetic lightsaber combat was a Force power where the user would manipulate their lightsaber with their mind. This was a very advanced technique as fighting without actually touching the weapon the user was fighting with required a great deal of concentration.
Saberthrow
Saberthrow was a Telekinetic lightsaber technique where the user would hurl their lightsaber like a boomerang at the opponent and then telekinetically bring it back to them.
Saber Barrier
Saber Barrier consisted of having two, sometimes three as in the case of Darth Traya, lightsabers whirl hovering in a horizontal circle around the saber-wielding Force user, thus creating a defensive yet deadly wall of lightsaber blades, defending the practitioner primarily against melee attacks.
Notable users
Telepathy[]
Telepathy was a Force power that allowed the user to speak with their mind or read the minds of others. Most Force users preferred to use comlincs or holoprojectors to communicate over long distances, because the further away the person was from the person they were telepathically speaking to, the more difficult it was to use. Most Force users could only sense the emotions of others and actually having telepathic conversations was much rarer. It was easier to use Telepathy if the users had a strong Force Bond.

Light side powers[]
Light side powers were used through the light side Force. The Jedi used them for protection, increasing physical and mental capacities, and for defense. They could also inspire and increase the resolve of allies. Certain light side powers could also be used offensively.
Alter Damage[]
Alter Damage was a very rare Force power which allowed a Jedi to use the Force to inflict minimal damage with an otherwise lethal wound. Therefore the Jedi could slash or stab an opponent with their lightsaber but could incapacitate them rather than kill them. This technique was invented by T'ra Saa and could only be used by a Jedi who was very skilled at healing.
Notable users
Alter Environment[]
Alter Environment involved various techniques that allowed the user to manipulate nature, enabling the creation of phenomena such as Force whirlwinds or fog that could be used to attack or to shield the user from opponents. Plo Koon further modified this ability with his considerable knowledge of physics.
Alter Environment could be used to manipulate temperatures, creating freezing sub-zero temperatures in seconds, or blistering heat that could burn. With this ability, a user could vacate areas of air or increase the pressure of the air to burst eardrums. The power allowed a Force-adept to form small earthquakes and fissures or gather the moisture in the air to bring about flash floods.
Notable users
Animal Friendship []
Animal Friendship, also referred to as Beast Control, was an ability that allowed the user to calm an animal or sometimes more than one animal. Once calmed, the animal would be tamed enough to be ridden or to simply remain calm. It could also be used to lure animals away from beings or objects that had caught their attention.
Notable users
Crucitorn[]
Crucitorn was a Force power that allowed the user to endure a huge amount of physical pain. Some Jedi were born with this ability but they were also capable of learning it. Jedi were able to use the Force to weaken the intensity of the pain they were feeling. However though Crucitorn weakened the feeling of pain, it did not weaken the actual damage that torture inflicted on the body.
Notable users
Force Bond[]
Force Bond was a power where two Jedi would become so close that they would form a bond in the Force allowing them to sense when the other was in danger from long distances and communicate with their minds. This could also be used to make Jedi more coordinated in battle and if one Jedi was tired it was possible for them to draw on the other Jedi's strength. It was common for a Master and Padawan to create a Force Bond. It was also possible to form Bonds with those who only had limited access to the Force.
Some Force users, notably Tom Norton and the Jedi Exile, had a natural talent for creating Force Bonds and were able to form them more quickly and easily than most Force users.

Force Ghost[]
Force Ghosts were the souls and essence of a deceased Force-sensitive who was able to interact with the living, albeit not physically. The secret to this ability was love, an emotion that most Jedi believed was too dangerous to touch and most Sith Lords were incapable of feeling anyway. Many Jedi didn't realise that love was as much a source of strength as it was a source of weakness; it was a double edged sword for although love could drive a person to the dark side it could also bring them back from the dark side and was the secret to immortality. Becoming a Force Ghost required letting love or compassion consume the user allowing them to defy death and return as a Force Ghost. Force Ghosts would often give comfort or advise to living people and were also able to actually physically help the living.
Though love was the secret to true immortality certain Sith Lords managed to learn other techniques to live after death but these techniques were both harder and less pleasant. It was not rare for the spirits of Sith Lords to remain, bound to the living world through an object, location, or simply due to the force of their malice and hatred. Unlike the Jedi, however, the Sith could find no peace in this form, instead existing for restless centuries, eventually driven insane by solitude, memories, or dark side inflicted madness. In many ways, these techniques differed from those taught by the Jedi; the most distinct difference being the user's limited ability to interact with his or her surroundings. Sith spirits were able to possess living things if they chose to.
The Valley of the Dark Lords on the planet Korriban had many dead Sith Spirits though these spirits were unable to leave the valley. The Valley's strength in the dark side was very strong.

Force Healing[]
Force Healing was a technique that could be used to heal wounds, both of other people and the person using it. Initial levels required meditation, but greater aptitude usually granted faster regeneration, without need of meditation. Force Healing could be used to heal flesh wounds and also far more severe injuries such as broken bones and damage to internal organs. However if the internal organ was completely destroyed then no amount of Force Healing could heal it. It was also impossible to regenerate a lost limb.
Although it was believed that malevolent Force-users could not employ Force healing, the dark side could be used to heal oneself, but, twisted by the Dark Side, the power would come at a price. Darth Sion's price was that he had to hold himself together with the Force and be caused agony in order to gain the anger needed to prevent himself from literally falling apart. Darth Bane was only able to heal by drawing on the pain and anguish of others.

Force Light[]
Force Light was an immense light-side Force power used by Jedi. When used against a darksider, Force light would weaken the darksider's connection to the Force. With the light of the Force, a Jedi could either purge or contain dark side manifestations or nexus points, whether in places, spirits, or even living persons, though sometimes to detrimental effect. By channeling the Force into withering blasts of light-side energy, the darkness can then be diminished or destroyed permanently. Force light could also be used to sever the bond between a Sith battlelord and his or her followers.
Notable users
Force Valour[]
Force Valour was a light side Force power that increased the resolve, accuracy, and speed of one's self. Tapping into the Force, a Jedi could increase the rate at which one's capacities functioned, allowing the body to move more quickly, strike more powerfully, and fight with improved accuracy. The more wise, charismatic, and skilled the caster was, the more profound the effects of Force Valor were.

Force Water Orb[]
Force Water Orb was a power invented by Jedi Master Kit Fisto, although it may have been known by Force users in the past and simply forgotten over time. Force Water Orb only worked underwater and therefore only Force users that could survive underwater were trained to use it. The user would manipulate water currents through use of the Force and form them into an orb of air underwater before directing it at an opponent.

Hibernation Trance[]
Hibernation Trance, Healing Trance, Jedi Hibernation, Force Trance, or Recovery Trance was an ability that allowed Force-user to go into a deep hibernation state. This slowed the user's metabolism and breathing to a standstill, causing the individual to only use one tenth of the air of a normal individual. A fully trained Force-user could stay in this state for up to one week in a dry climate or one month in a wet climate before dying from lack of water.
Notable users
Malacia[]
Malacia was used to induce a powerful dizziness and nausea in enemies by turning their equilibrium against them. It was completely incapacitating, but caused no damage to the body, and so was not considered a dark side power and some users argued that the power might have benefited some of its victims - it reminded thugs that they, like their prey, were not invincible. Even so, the effects of the power were could sometimes cause a target to vomit. The principal quality of the technique was that a Force-user utilized it by transforming a target's energy rather than using their own. An attack with Malacia by a Master of the power was rarely blocked.

Mind Tricks[]
Mind Tricks were a power that allowed Jedi to convince other beings to submit to their wishes. When using a Jedi mind trick, a Jedi often waved his or her hand to aid in the persuasion. The Jedi adopted a peculiar tone of voice along with a casual facial expression. The being that was the object of the mind trick tended to adopt a casual tone of voice but a peculiar facial expression. He or she, should the trick succeed, then agreed to whatever was being told to them without being able to think for themselves. Moments later, they would feel puzzled about their new opinion, but usually didn't feel like changing it back.
Strong minded people were able to resist Mind Tricks, some with no effort but even a strong minded person would have trouble resisting several Mind Tricks at once, especially if the Mind Tricks were used by a skilled Force user. Most Jedi were cautious about this application of the Force because there was a risk that the subjects mind would be damaged or destroyed in the process.

Morichro[]
Similar to a Force trance, Morichro suspended biological functions, including breathing and heart rate. A trained Morichro user could turn the technique upon himself, surviving without food, water, or even air for periods of over a year at a time, though it would not protect against vacuum. But unlike a Force trance, it could also be turned on others, making it an effective way of subduing enemies. However, failure to monitor a targeted opponent could render them permanently unconscious or cause them to die of dehydration or starvation.
Despite its deadly potential, Morichro was not usually practiced by those who used the dark side, as it required a mastery of a less malicious use of the Force than most darksiders employed.

Revitalise was a light side Force technique that revitalized an exhausted, wounded user or whoever the user directed it at. Being a Force-based power, it did not work on non-organics such as droids.

Dark side powers[]
Dark side powers were used to harm, both physically and mentally, or kill. Some were used to benefit the user personally, akin to powers of the light side, with the difference that these were used at the expense of his or her own health or another individual's Force reserve. The dark side drew its power from emotion, and while the intent behind their use may well have been good at the time, it was most likely to lead one to further spiritual corruption from overuse, without the proper self control and mindset. Continuous use of dark powers was shown to have a physically corrupting effect on the Force-user, regardless of intent, due to the body's inability to handle such power for long periods of time. It was not unheard of for Jedi to use dark side powers.
Dark Infection[]
Dark Infection was an ability where the user would infect the victim with the Dark side of the Force. Dark Infection was so strong that it was almost impossible to break free of it. Ahsoka Tano, who was exceptionally strong willed, was unable to break free of Dark Infection until she nearly killed Tom Norton. Tom's physical and emotional pain shot across their Force Bond, allowing Ahsoka to fight off the Dark Infection. If not for the strength of their Force Bond, it might have been impossible for Ahsoka to break free of Dark Infection.
It is interesting to note that only the Son was capable of using this power. Even Darth Sidious, who was considered to be the most powerful Sith Lord that had ever lived, never learned this ability, suggesting that Son either invented it himself and never told anyone, or that it was simply impossible for anyone else to use the ability since Son was considered to be the Dark side of the Force in a physical form.

Drain Knowledge[]
Drain Knowledge was a dark side ability used to extract knowledge out of a person when they didn't want the knowledge to be known. Beyond simple reading of thoughts, the Drain Knowledge ability disrupted the Force to steal deep memories and information in a violent and merciless way. Such a process might damage the subject mentally.

Force Drain[]
Force Drain was a power used to drain energy out of other people and use it to increase the users energy and power. It could drain both Force energy and life energy and some users were known to be able to drain life energy and Force energy simultaneously. If used for a long time it could result in the death of the unfortunate victim.

Force Choke[]
Force Choke causes immobilization and choking, which with prolonged focus, could lead to death. The area affected was typically the target's neck. The target was not lifted or moved about unless the Choke was combined with Force Grip. Those most experienced with Force Choke needed only a live visual of their victim in order to perform the technique.

Force Crush[]
This deadly ability would cause the victims body to literally imploded as it was crushed by the Force. Common among followers of the dark side, by 3,932 BCW many dark side Force users could use the ability. Because of its lethal and dark side nature it was rarely used among Jedi.

Force Fear[]
Force Fear was a dark side variant on the Jedi Mind Trick used around 4,000 BCW by Sith and Dark Jedi. The wielder would strike directly at the deepest parts of the target's mind, causing an uncontrollable shaking fear that would wreak havoc with the target's capabilities. Through pure force of will alone, a user could cause them to lose their courage completely, and if left undefended, the effects could be severe, rapidly demoralizing the enemy with a feeling of hopelessness and regret. Depending on the victim, it would caused them to either cower defenselessly or flee from their opponent outright. A strong willed opponent could overcome Force Fear.
Force Horror
Force horror enabled the Force user to cause multiple enemies to enter into a catatonic state of panic that was more severe and more difficult to defend than the basic Force fear.
Force Insanity
Force insanity enabled the Force user to affect multiple enemies at once, although to an even greater range than its predecessor. As the most advanced form of Force fear, its effect was much more devastating, with the victims possibly descending into an utter state of frenzied madness and deranged mania as their situation seemed to suddenly become hopeless. Force Insanity was almost impossible to resist and only a person with incredible willpower could withstand its effects.

Force Lightning[]
Force lightning was a purely offensive, energy-based attack that channeled Force energy down the user's limbs, hurling arcing bolts of electricity from the wielder's fingertips or palms; Force lightning could be executed with either one or two hands. Powerful discharges would branch out into dozens of smaller forks; thus, skilled practitioners could target several foes at once. The intensity varied based on a number of factors. A skilled user could render a target unconscious with only a short burst. A single, powerful blast was sufficient to kill a person instantly. There are a few variants of force lightning.
Force Shock
Force Shock was a Force power that allowed the user to create an energy spark that would track and damage the nearest enemy. The shock could be thrown at an opponent to stun and injure them, or could be set loose to track an opponent until it dissipates. The shock would not last more than five seconds or so before disappearing into a tiny burst of heat, but it was a useful technique for Sith apprentices.
Force Storm
Force Storm was a Force lightning variant. The user would raise his palm upward and would create, through the Force, an explosion of electrical energy directed at all foes in the vicinity. It was used by both the Sith and Dark Jedi during the Jedi Civil War. Unlike the Force lightning, Force Storm was not limited to attacking enemies in one direction, as it affected all foes within a certain radius from the user.

Force Rage[]
To use Force Rage a Force user would tap into his or her innermost fears, pain and hate, converting them into intense anger. The user could then channel the anger to increase his or her own speed, strength, and ferocity. If light side users wielded Force Rage, it could permanently disrupt their connection to the light side unless something happened to interrupt the Rage and bring them out of the dark side's grip. Therefore, the Rage could give the wielder an instantaneous physical and mental response, but pull them into the void of the dark side.

Force Scream[]
If a Dark Jedi or Sith was being beaten and frustrated by their foe, they might let out an enraged scream (amplified through the Force) that triggered shock waves that rippled through the Force. This caused devastation to any that were unfortunate enough to be in close proximity. Like many dark side force powers, it allowed the user to use powerful negative emotions as a weapon, albeit involuntarily in this case.
The Force scream has been called “a wave of hatred, amplified and fueled by the dark side, that is capable of smashing through mental and physical defenses with ease.” A number of references to Dark Jedi in Old Republic archives often mentioned the Dark Jedi violently losing control in the final moments of battle.

Force Slow[]
Force Slow clouded the target's mind, causing them to slow down both mentally and physically. There were two more advanced versions of this Force power, Force Affliction and Force Plague.
Force Affliction
Force Affliction worked much like a fast-acting poison, quickly debilitating the target. The effects of affliction worsened over time and may cause death if the user is strong enough in the Force.
Force Plague
Force Plague worked like a fast-acting toxin, horribly debilitating its victims. The effects of Plague continued to worsen over time. All three of these powers appeared to have been forgotten by the time of the Clone Wars

Midi-chlorian manipulation[]
Midi-chlorian manipulation was a newly discovered Force power that required immense knowledge of the dark side of the Force. It was the ability to create, maintain, or save life through the influencing of midi-chlorians to a certain degree. Palpatine told Anakin Skywalker that Darth Plagueis used this power to save the ones he loved from dying. This is unlikely, as Plagueis was a Sith lord and therefore unlikely to be able to feel love, though it was not impossible for a Sith lord to be able to love.
Darth Plagueis stated that a child born of this power would possess an unbelievably strong connection to the Force. Darth Plagueis used this power to create Anakin Skywalker resulting in Skywalkers tremendous connection to the Force. This could also explain why Anakin so often called on his dark side; Midi-chlorian Manipulation was inteferring with the Force itself and was therefore a dark side power and most likely imprinted the dark side into Skywalker.

Sith Alchemy[]
Sith Alchemy was a rare Force power that allowed the user to enhance the strength of weapons and armor, or to genetically engineer and enhance alien species, making them more dangerous and easier to control by the Sith Lords. More sinisterly, Sith Alchemy was capable of waking the dead in servitude to the Sith though these undead would be incapable of thought or speech. Korriban zombies were creations of this branch of the art.

Sith Sorcery[]
Traditionally, Sith Sorcery, also known as Sith Magic, was an arcane expression of Force ability first developed and practiced by the original Sith species through which they manipulated the power of the dark side. The very name of the Sith was adopted by the Dark Jedi Exiles of the Hundred-Year Darkness, who combined Sith mysticism with their own experiments into dark side power to create even more strange rituals and alchemical sciences. Sith magic, while as much a part of the dark side as endowments like Force lightning, was accessible only to those Force-sensitives who possessed an intrinsic relationship with the dark side. Through the recitation of spells, execution of hand gestures, and or the handling of various artifacts, darksiders were able to channel the raw power of the Force's malignant side to warp minds, alter the environment, and obliterate whatever obstacles stood in their way.
Sith magic was prevalent among the citizens of the ancient Sith Empire, and its disciplines were adhered to throughout the span of galactic history, predating even the inception of the longstanding Galactic Republic. Its effectiveness in battle was realized during the Great Hyperspace War of 5,000 BBY, up to and beyond the Great Sith War a thousand years later. Proponents of Sith magic revived its practice briefly during the New Sith Wars, but it became something of an oddity following the reformation of the Republic in 1,000 BBY. By then, a lone Sith apprentice was its only active student. Still, the allure of Sith magic survived at least up until the death of Darth Plagueis and probably longer.

Transfer essence[]
Transfer essence was a dark side power that could mean eternal life, or could result in unspeakable consequences if done wrong. The power enabled the user's spirit to survive the death of their organic body by usurping control of a suitable receptacle. If the invading consciousness was powerful enough, it could override and expel the mind of the target body. However, the practitioner's own body disintegrated in the attempt. If the target resisted the possession attempt, or if the user failed in their attempt to bond with the object, their disembodied spirit, with nowhere else to go, was consigned to Chaos.

Thought Bomb[]
The Thought Bomb was one of the most powerful and destructive applications of the dark side of the Force which targeted all Force-sensitive individuals and vaporized clothing, flesh, bone, and even stone within the radius of the weapon's blast. The thought bomb sucked the souls of its victims into a sphere of dark side energy where they were trapped in an orb of dark torment until the end of time. Unfortunately for the users the thought bomb was a suicide weapon.
The thought bomb's use dated back to the ancient Sith, and stories were told in the Jedi Temple about the destruction they caused. The bomb's secrets were forgotten and thought to be lost forever until Darth Bane discovered Darth Revan's holocron in the Temple of the Ancients on the planet Lehon. The holocron was constructed by Darth Revan nearly three thousand years earlier, but the technique likely even predated Revan.
