Droids

While the first name that springs to mind when ships of the Force exiles are brought up is the Hawk-bat, this section encompasses more than just that one freighter. Information on any number of ships and vehicles developed by the now defunct Kraechar Arms is provided here as well, all with extensive details on design, development, and history. All of these entries have now been painfully and carefully organized on this page for ease of use.

Author's note: Organizational icons have been provided to help readers avoid spoilers and find information about topics they are interested in. The icons correspond to the six Force Exile novels, as well as the Yanibar Tales and the Yanibar Guard Sourcebook

AAT

In the early years of the Yanibar Guard, there was insufficient manpower and technology available to deploy a full-fledged army. To bolster the ranks, the Yanibar Guard used old Separatist armaments available from an abandoned shipyard and supply base. Among the equipment they used was the Armored Assault Tank, or AAT, the lethal tanks that had become notorious across the galaxy during the Invasion of Naboo. The AAT provided the Yanibar Guard with some modicum of armored firepower and, being a droid, was considered more or less expendable. Read more…

The droideka, or destroyer droid, was a lethal war machine originating from Colla IV. Its manufacturers, the vicious insectoid Colicoids, modeled the droid after their own appearance and made the droid a lethal combination of mobility, firepower, and defenses. In its combat stance, dual twin blaster cannons gave the droideka four times as much firepower as a standard battle droid, while a deflector shield generator protected the droideka from both blaster bolts and physical projectiles. This combination gave droidekas a reputation for being well-nigh unstoppable—even Jedi were known to avoid giving battle to droidekas directly. When not in combat stance, the droids collapsed into a wheel shape that allowed them to roll around at high speeds, affording them excellent mobility. Read more…

J7-A0 was a personal assistant droid custom-built for Selusda and Milya Kraen after their daughter Rhiannon was blinded by an illness at a young age. Painstakingly assembled and programmed by engineering savant Sarth Kraen, J7-A0 was a customized version of a 2JTJ personal navigation droid. However, due to the special needs of Rhiannon and some unorthodox requests from her parents, Sarth found that the head and verbobrain of the 2JTJ were lacking. Instead, he replaced it with the head and primary programming core of a GH-7 medical droid. The resulting droid had the patience and gentility of a GH-7 while retaining the capability of a 2JTJ for assisting either Rhiannon or her parents, along with several other surprises.. Read more…

JRF fire support droid

The JRF fire support droid was an indigenous Kraechar Arms combat droid designed to provide fire support to Yanibar Guard infantry. The droids were based off of three Separatist battle droid designs: the repeater super battle droid, mortar super battle droid, and anti-air super battle droid. Since the Yanibar Guard had salvaged hundreds of super battle droids, including some of these specialized designs, creation of the JRF was fairly straightforward. Read more…

Mk XII assassin droid

FE6

The Mk XII assassin droid was a lethal bipedal droid designed to confront and defeat a wide variety of opponents, but especially Force-users. Its armament was varied in type and nature, allowing it to fight Force-users with weapons that weren't deflected by lightsabers. Furthermore, its phrik-based armor was resistant to lightsaber strikes, and the droids were equipped with shield generators. The droids had three arms. Though roughly humanoid in shape, each arm was disproportionately larger than might be expected for a sentient being, as each one housed multiple weapons. The third arm extended upward from the nape of its neck. Read more…

Mortar tank

Heavy Artillery Gun
YGS

The mortar tank, also known as the Heavy Artillery Gun, was a piece of ex-Confederate droid weaponry acquired by the Yanibar Guard from an abandoned Separatist supply base. The venerable artillery weapons had seen action in the Battle of Naboo and then in numerous battles in the Clone Wars under the Trade Federation and Confederacy. Early in the history of the Yanibar Guard Army, the mortar tank provided the bulk of its artillery firepower. Although aging—having been built over twenty years ago—the weapons were reliable, simplistic, and most importantly, numerous. It was fairly simple for Kraechar Arms to add a networking module that allowed large formations of mortar tanks to focus their fire. Eventually, the droid design was copied and reproduced by Kraechar Arms as an indigenous product, allowing larger numbers of them to enter service. Read more…

Predator-AT droid walker

As the Yanibar Guard Army evolved and developed, a realization that its droid forces were sorely lacking took place in 23 ABY. To upgrade the obsolete Clone Wars models, two different droid vehicles were commissioned, the Predator and the Reaper. While the Reaper was designed primarily as an anti-aircraft weapon with secondary capability as an anti-personnel weapon, the Predator was purpose-built to hunt vehicles. To save on design costs, the Predator and Reaper shared the same chassis, giving the droid a high profile and limited ability to fire at targets below it. The Predator was not a subtle design; instead, it was designed to slug it out with heavily armored vehicles in vicious brawls, saving the organic soldiers and crewed vehicles of the Yanibar Guard from having to participate in such a meat-grinder of a battle. As the Yanibar Guard Army evolved and developed, a realization that its droid forces were sorely lacking took place in 22 ABY. To upgrade the obsolete Clone Wars models, two different droid vehicles were commissioned, the Predator and the Reaper. The Reaper was a dedicated anti-aircraft/anti-personnel platform, mounting a variant of the Starfire-PD naval point-defense weapon. Larger and more intimidating than the AATs it was replacing, its primary role was to defend against aerial attackers, protect convoys, and serve as a second-line support unit. Read more…

Like the droideka, the Vulture droid starfighter, more properly referred to as the Variable Geometry Self-Propelled Battle Droid, Mark I, was originally a Trade Federation product designed and developed by a technically gifted alien civilization who modeled the battle droid on their own likeness. In the case of the Vulture droid, it was the Xi Charrians of Haor Chall Engineering who provided the design of one of the most notorious fighters of the Clone Wars. Years after the end of that galactic conflagration, Vulture droids would again see service, this time in the hands of the Yanibar Guard Fleet after being recovered, repaired, and modified by arms company Kraechar Arms.
