The Essential Guide to Force Exile is the official reference guide to the Force Exile Series, and the fifth overall Force Exile story, written by Atarumaster88. Set nearly two hundred years after the Legacy era, the guide chronicles the story of Selusda Kraen and the Yanibar refuges.
Preface[]
Welcome, my friend, to a galaxy far, far away. Enter the realm of Jedi and bounty hunters, soldiers and droids, rulers and beggars, aliens and humans. From Stackpole’s Corellians to Traviss's Mandalorians, immerse yourself in a universe with the exotica of Zahn, the wit of Allston, the grimness of Stover, the daring of Ostrander, the imagery of Luceno, the detail of Wallace, and most importantly, the vision of George Lucas, to whom we owe it all. And if you listen close enough, you’ll hear the sweet sounds of John Williams’ score in the background. Welcome to Star Wars.
Many years ago, on a remote planet called Yanibar, a group of people came together. They came from unique backgrounds, unique cultures, but they had this in common: they were all outcasts from an oppressive regime and all served the light side of the energy field known as the Force. Uniting under one banner, they carved their own society out on Yanibar to weather out the storm of the Empire. Hundreds of years later, they have long passed beyond the realm of memory, but we can study their legacy, what they left behind, in hopes of gaining information and inspiration from their lives and society. We can see the galaxy they lived in by looking at significant events in their history. We can understand the places they lived in by looking at key locations. We can see how they defended themselves by looking at the ships, weapons, droids, and technology they used in an attempt to preserve their way of life. Lastly, we can see the influential figures who shaped the course of their society.
As you read through the entries of this compilation, look beyond the words and images to see the spirit of these brave men and women, who sought to build a new hope for themselves and their descendants even in the midst of dark times. The principles they stood for have endured years beyond their society and their existence helped shape the galaxy as it is today. They were a beacon of light, a refuge for forsaken principles, in the midst of a period frought with war, strife, and constant upheaval–things not unfamiliar to our galaxy today. They left behind a rich legacy of culture, of sacrifice, and of memory, that one day, those who followed them would be able to absorb the lessons and memories that remained. With that, welcome to the definitive work on the Yanibar Force exiles.

Sections[]
Characters
Inside this section, you will information on the various people that affected the Yanibar refuge and its founders. They were a diverse group, and this work seeks to be equally diverse in its selections, moving beyond the Kraen family—as admittedly influential as they were—to cover dozens of key figures from that era. |
Planets and Moons
The Planets and Moons section describes the most significant planets and locations for the Force exiles. While some of the more well-known worlds with well-documented histories that are only peripherally connected to the Force exiles are omitted, the planets included feature a wealth of information on a number of aspects, including geography, society, culture, history, and climate. |
Vehicles and Vessels
While the first name that springs to mind when ships of the Force exiles are brought up is the Hawk-bat, this section encompasses more than just that one freighter. Information on any number of ships and vehicles developed by the now defunct Kraechar Arms is provided here as well, all with extensive details on design, development, and history. All of these entries have now been painfully and carefully organized on this page for ease of use. |
Weapons and Technology
In the tumultuous era of the Force exiles, they often had need to defend themselves from a variety of threats. This section therefore contains entries on any number of weapons and technology produced by Kraechar Arms. However, due to the vast scope of the work, most information on more common domestic items is not listed here, as this work is primarily focused on products designed indigenously by Kraechar Arms. |
Droids
The colony on Yanibar was noted for its heavy use of droids of numerous types, ranging from protocol to astromech to war droids. While most of the droids were imported or license-built from existing designs, indigenous models, primarily developed for military use, were produced for the Yanibar Guard. As such, these unique automaton are covered here. |

Behind the scenes[]
Atarumaster88 originally conceived of The Essential Guide to Force Exile primarily to document technical details about the various ships, weapons, and technology he created for the Force Exile Series. The work soon grew to encompass characters as well. While initially a subpage of his user profile, Atarumaster88 moved it to the main area of the Star Wars Fanon Wiki and started working on it in 2008. Due to the size, complexity, and the need to finish other works in order to capture details in the Essential Guide, he did not finish it until April 29, 2020, on the thirteenth anniversary of the series overall. Atarumaster88 chose to use the essential guide format with its in-universe perspective provided by an archaeologist to avoid worrying about writing in a neutral point of view as well as limiting the amount of details he would have to provide. The use of the in-universe perspective also helped him avoid having to make dozen of links, as the Star Wars Fanon Wiki considered the work as prose and not an article, with different formatting standards. Upon its completion, there were 135 entries in the Essential Guide, with 81 character, 9 planet/moon, 25 vehicles/vessel, 9 droid, and 11 weapons/technology entries.
The era icons provided on the pages for each section were a suggestion from Victor Dorantes, who made and provided them to Atarumaster88 to help avoid spoilers. The cover was created by Solus from a variety of images depicting at least one of each type of entry: Yanibar, Jorgesoll Knrr, Battlesuit52, Makashi-class frigate, and J7-A0. Several backstory entries were heavily contributed to by other users on the wiki, including Solus, Jedi Master 76, Jack Nebulax, and Brandon Rhea.
