The Temple of Veritas was a large temple on Kal'Shebbol built by Jedi Master Caecum Veritas in 960 BBY. Having been built before the Galactic Republic claimed Kal’Shebbol as a territorial planet, the temple remained hidden for years. Once the Republic did discover the planet after having lost information about it for millennia, certain members of the Jedi High Council ensured parts of the temple remained strictly off limits, and that a group of trusted Jedi Knights would always stand guard outside.
Half of the structure was built inside a cliff, and because of the river and waterfall flowing over that cliff the temple was given indoor streams and pools of water to keep a cool and moist environment for those who were permitted in the lower levels. The upper levels of the temple were allowed to be accessed by any member of the Jedi Order, though the Jedi High Council would have to approve any non-Jedi admittances to the facility due to reasons they did not disclose.
Although it was known that the upper levels of the temple were used much the same as any other Jedi Temple or academy, very few had access to the knowledge of what happened in the lower levels. Many believed that it was a place for the more senior members of the Jedi Order to try to gain a better understanding of the Force, while others believed that it was the place where unknown texts regarding the Sith and the dark side of the Force were kept hidden from the public and other members of the Jedi Order. However, none of these rumors were confirmed.
