The T3-B heavy attack tank was a heavy treaded tank and the successor to the T2-B repulsor tank. It was utilized by the Rebel Alliance Army and later the New Republic army during the Galactic Civil War.

Characteristics[]

Manufactured by Yutrane-Trackata and part of the T-series tank line, the T3-B heavy attack tank was well armed for its size, sporting two heavy blaster cannons and three proton torpedo launchers that were capable of destroying almost any ground vehicle, even an All Terrain Armored Transport. This was a significant improvement over the T2-B repulsor tank, which was armed with four light laser cannons that were only effective against infantry. The T3-B was heavily armored, but was not equipped with deflector shields. It was equipped with treads instead of the first two tanks in the T-series line, which had repulsorlifts. The tank consisted of a crew of three, a pilot, a co-pilot, and one gunner.

History[]

The T3-B heavy attack tank was introduced by Yutrane-Trackata in 5 BBY, intended to be used by the Galactic Empire. The Imperial Army rejected the design, although some still did end up in service of a few Imperial military units. After the beginning off the Galactic Civil War, treasonous members of Yutrane-Trackata delivered shipments of these tanks to the Rebel Alliance. They were used throughout the war including in the Mid Rim Offensive and the subsequent retreat, but were limited in availability and Alliance Generals deployed them sparingly. Despite this, many AT-AT pilots feared T3-Bs on the battlefield and made them priority targets. After the Battle of Endor, Yutrane-Trackata openly supported the New Republic and manufactured many tanks for them. Several T3-Bs were used in the Battle of Jakku. They were retired by the New Republic a few years later and replaced by the T4-B heavy assault tank.

About three decades later, the Resistance acquired several T3-Bs to use in their fight against the First Order.
