Rise of the Empire era

T'ra Saa was a Neti Jedi Master and the first Padawan that future Grand Master Yoda had ever trained. As a Neti she was gifted with a very long lifespan and though she was over eight hundred years old by the time of the Clone Wars, she was relatively young for her species which could live for several thousand years. T'ra Saa fell in love with Jedi Master Tholme.

Biography[]

Early life[]

T'ra Saa was the first Padawan ever trained by Yoda and, as a Neti, she had the potential to live far longer than Yoda. Most of her life before the Clone Wars is a mystery but she was granted the rank of Jedi Master at least seven centuries before the Clone Wars. Apparently she had been headstrong in her youth but by mastering Soresu and Niman she matured into a wise, calm and thoughtful person. At some point T'ra came into contact with the Kadri'Ra of Arapia and learned their language. She also joined the Jedi Council at some point but for unknown reasons she did not remain on the Council. T'ra also invented the Alter Damage technique and was considered to be the Jedi Order's best healer.

Jedi Master[]

As a Jedi Master T'ra Saa trained the young Mace Windu to become a Jedi Knight. She became close friends with Jedi Master Tholme. T'ra had known Tholme since he was a baby, being the person who found him and brought him to the Jedi Order in the first place. By the time Tholme was fully grown, he had fallen in love with the Neti who had watched over him all his life. Although she was initially cautious and ashamed about her feelings due to the Jedi Code, the massive age gap between them and the fact that she had known him as a baby, T'ra eventually admitted that she had fallen in love with him in return, resulting in a unique relationship between them.

Prior to the Stark Hyperspace War, she was appointed Jedi watchman of the sector of space including Kiffu and Kiffex, after Tholme stepped down from that post, so as to take Quinlan Vos as his Padawan. Later, Master Saa assisted Quinlan Vos in defeating Volfe Karkko's Anzati uprising on Kiffex. Saa avoided detection in tree form and when Quinlan Vos was captured by feral Anzati she freed him and helped him destroy his captors.

Clone Wars[]

Battle of Geonosis[]

T'ra Saa was one of the many Jedi to fight in the Petranaki Arena on Geonosis and one of the few Jedi to survive the battle. After the battle T'ra set about healing the wounded with Barriss Offee, Carmen Conrose and Nahdar Vebb.

Battle of Null[]

T'ra Saa fought in the battle of Null where she saved many Clone troopers by using telekinesis to bring down several trees but was badly injured in the process. Tholme waited outside her bacta tank until she recovered.

Battle of Arapia[]

T'ra and Tholme were later sent to Arapia when the Jedi Council learned that the Separatists wanted to use the Kadri'Ra to build more ships. During the space battle above the planet Tholme infiltrated Sora Bulq's cruiser and disabled the ship that Bulq used to escape from battles. However Bulq found him and defeated him in a duel, before holding him hostage. T'ra was hesitant about blowing up Bulq's cruiser with her lover still on board. When Tholme pointed out that he would die long before her anyway, T'ra replied that it was too soon and that they could still have a few more decades together. Bulq taunted the Neti, calling her weak and telling her that she had allowed herself to become to attached to Tholme. In return for Tholme's release, T'ra promised to allow Bulq to leave the system. The suspicious Bulq joined them on the cruiser after a gunship picked up him and Tholme and then released the Human. Although T'ra and Tholme could have had Bulq captured right there and then, T'ra couldn't bring herself to break her promise and allowed Bulq to leave. Tholme was angry with her for doing so, but T'ra calmly replied that she would only accept his passing when there was no way to avoid it.

T'ra and Tholme landed on Arapia where they met the exiled Padawan Tom Norton, who was visiting the Zillo Beast who lived on the planet. T'ra also met the Kadri'Ra who treated her with respect and some of the older ones recognised her from the time she had learned their language.

Bulq returned the next day, this time bringing a larger droid army and Dooku with him. Tra, Tholme and Tom all fought the invaders and Tom protected the Zillo Beast by using the Force to deflect any gas filled missiles that could kill the creature. T'ra and Tholme, who were protecting the Clones from behind Tom and his pet, noticed Dooku and Bulq land on the Zillo Beast's back and ran up his huge body to help Tom. The five combatants fought on various parts of the Zillo Beast's body. T'ra fought Dooku and their duel took them to one of Zilli's huge shoulder blades. Then T'ra noticed Tom falling from the third arm that was sticking out of the Zillo Beast's back. She got Dooku into a bladelock and then telekinetically slowed Tom's fall before being stabbed in the stomach by the Sith Lord. However because she was a Neti and she was a master of Healing Trance, T'ra survived the injury. Although Dooku and Bulq overwhelmed the Jedi, they were captured when the Zillo Beast blocked their way back to their ship after throwing them off his back, and catching T'ra, Tholme and Tom with his three hands.

T'ra and Tholme soon recovered from their injuries thanks to their Healing Trances, although T'ra recovered more quickly because her species were more resilient than a Human. T'ra's old Master Yoda, arrived to take them back to Coruscant, since their Clone Troopers had assumed they were dead and left them on the planet. T'ra was mildly annoyed with the Clones for just assuming that she and Tholme had been killed. Before leaving, T'ra helped Tom make sure that the Zillo Beast was safe by asking the Kadri'Ra to fill in the huge hole he had to make in order to go into hiding underground.

Personality and traits[]

T'ra Saa was a calm, patient and thoughtful Jedi Master, who never lost her temper or jumped to conclusions. However she once admitted that she'd been headstrong in her youth and claimed that mastering Soresu and Niman had affected her personality to a certain extent. Their calm and focused mindsets helped T'ra mature into a calm and focused person. As she was the oldest Jedi in the Order apart from Yoda she had gained a great deal of wisdom over the centuries. T'ra was also known to speak in riddles or metaphors at times.

T'ra never broke her promises, even if they were made to an enemy. When she promised Sora Bulq that she would allow him to leave Arapia in return for the release of Tholme, she stuck to the promise and told the Clones to allow Bulq to leave, even though the Dark Jedi was on a Republic Cruiser and surrounded at the time.

T'ra Saa was in love with Tholme and he felt the same way despite being different species and despite the fact that T'ra was several centuries older than Tholme. Both Jedi believed they had learned to love in a way that allowed them to avoid selfishness, jealousy, and attachment. They also both accepted that T'ra would most likely live much longer than Tholme. However when T'ra was faced with the possibility of loosing Tholme in the battle of Arapia, she showed that she had not been able to avoid the attachment that came from falling in love, and that, although she knew that Tholme would most likely die long before she did, she couldn't bring herself to part with him unless it was completely unavoidable. This showed that even the second oldest Jedi Master in the Order was vulnerable to attachment, although Tom Norton thought it was touching that T'ra cared about Tholme so much.

Powers and abilities[]

Force powers[]

T'ra Saa was trained as a Jedi Consular and was considered by many to be the Jedi Order's finest healer. At some point during her long life, T'ra invented a Force technique called Alter Damage. Alter Damage allowed a her use the Force to inflict less damage with an otherwise lethal wound, allowing her to incapacitate an opponent without killing them. T'ra was also a master of the Healing Trance power, which she taught to her lover, Tholme. Because of her Healing Trance, she was able to recover from being stabbed in the stomach by Count Dooku, and it also might have helped her recover from the wounds she suffered on Null, although on this occassion she was in a Bacta Tank which sped up the healing process.

T'ra was also a master of Telekinesis being able to stop Tom Norton from falling to his death in the battle of Arapia. The most impressive display of her Telekinetic abilities was when T'ra brought down several trees at the same time during the battle of Null.

Lightsaber training[]

In addition to being powerful in the Force, T'ra Saa was adept with her lightsaber having had nearly eight centuries to improve her skills. She was a master of Soresu and passed on her knowledge of the style to her Padawan, Mace Windu. She had also mastered Niman. T'ra claimed that mastering Soresu and Niman had helped her become a more calm and focused person than she had been in her youth.

T'ra's skill with a lightsaber allowed her to hold her own very well against Darth Tyranus during the battle of Arapia, even though she was fighting on the back of a moving Zillo Beast at the time. Dooku defeated her but it should be noted that T'ra was distracted because she was using Telekinesis to save Tom Norton from a fatal fall.

Other abilities[]

As a Neti, T'ra Saa could change her appearance at will. Her preferred form looked similar to a Human woman, the most notable differences being no nose and tendrils instead of hair. Her Neti physiology also made her quite resilient, and because of this and her mastery of Healing Trance she was able to quickly recover from her serious injuries on Null and Arapia which would have killed most other species although it should be noted that after the battle of Null, she still needed to be put in a Bacta Tank in order to heal completely.

At some point in her youth T'ra also learned to speak the language of the Kadri'Ra.
