History[]

When Mitth'raw'nuruodo was given the title of Syndic between 27 and 20 BBY, he was given a Household Phalanx, as was normal for a Syndic. In around 20 BBY, it was disbanded, after Thrawn's controversial exile. However, most of his Phalanx remained loyal to him. Though they searched for their Syndic, they were never able to find his planet of exile.

In 19 ABY, Thrawn was found by Imperial Captain Voss Parck, who brought Thrawn to Coruscant and the Emperor.

Kres'ten'tarthi

Kres'ten'tarthi, a high placed Phalanx Commander in the Hand.

After Thrawn began to establish the Empire of the Hand, he was reunited with his lost Phalanx. They did not have the support of the Chiss Ascendancy, and as such were known as the 'Rogue Phalanx' by some Chiss.

They grew to be much larger than Household Phalanxes were meant to be, consisting of several thousand Chiss as opposed to the standard hundred or so. In some respects, they became a separate branch of the Empire of the Hand's military. They were used not only for protecting Thrawn himself, but other high ranking officials.

Force Spike was a division of the Phalanx commanded by Colonel Jagged Fel, which was sent to reenforce the Imperial Remnant during the Yuuzhan Vong War. In the late Vong War, Force Spike temporary acted as a Colonial Phalanx in the Chiss Ascendancy, as the Ascendancy was short on personnel.

Organization[]

Hess'irolia'nuruodo

Hess’irola’nuruodo, a Phalanx Commander in the Empire of the Hand.

Wishing to stay somewhat true to the usual Household Phalanx system, Commander still was the highest rank in the Phalanx, after the Syndic, of course. However, there may have been multiple Commanders. Furthermore, a Phalanx Commander held a position more similar to that of an navy Force Commander. Kres'ten'tarthi was the highest Phalanx commander. Below them were Colonels, such as Jagged Fel, one of the only non-chiss in the Phalanx, who commanded three squadrons. Below them were Captains, who Commanded a single squadron. Senior Lieutenants and Lieutenants made up the rest of the Phalanx.
