Sutta Kotsuska, plural Sutta Kotsuskak,[1] was a Sith language term meaning "Broken Lance"[2][3][4] that referred to an individual Sith-blooded man-at-arms who had left the service of the Murese Second Predorate to fight for a foreign state. This phenomenon was endemic to the Inter-Sith Wars period, during which time the Sith unionist propaganda disseminated by the reconstituted Sith Empire compelled many Sith-blooded residents of Mure to answer the Sith Emperor's call to arms against the Republic. In the years following the Empire's dissolution and the Third Galactic War, the term Sutta Kotsuska was used more generally to describe a wayward Murese Sith who had left Mure to fight as a mercenary in the greater galaxy.

Behind the scenes

The concept behind the Sutta Kotsuska was derived from the lanze spezzate of the Italian city-states. These men-at-arms were generally individual mercenaries formerly belonging to companies called "lances" who had ended up operating alone without the aid of their support units.
