The Supreme Council of the United Republic was dissolved two weeks before the Earth Republic Crisis that was sparked by the death of Supreme President Kent Sanders eight years before.
It was later restored by former Republic Loyalist Army leader now Supreme President Davis Jones after he reorganized the Republic Loyalist Army into the New United Republic of Earth.
By law, Jones wasn't permitted to restore the older council and instead was supposed to create a newer council but never did which sparked a series of Republic Remnant groups to move against the New United Republic and then Jones had no choice but to deploy the New United Military and launch a series of campaigns against the Remnant groups, Resistance Pockets of the Remnant and Remnant Holdouts.
