Sun djem was one of the nine marks of lightsaber combat. Sun djem was a cut which either destroyed an enemy's weapon or forced him to drop it. A shiim mark applied to the knuckles might be sun djem if it caused the target to drop his weapon in pain.

Notable uses[]

In 1,388 BBY, Tirien Kal-Di used sun djem against fellow Jedi Javrin Flek, singeing one of Javrin's hands and disarming Javrin while he was distracted by the pain.[1] He did the same thing three years later to Yan Razam during the Battle on the Kiss of Death.[2] Narasi Rican, Tirien's Padawan, managed to disarm both Zaella Sabir and Renata Cul'Caritas in sparring without burning them.[3] Narasi also disarmed Yan, though in a life-and-death duel on Malachor Base.[4]

During the Duel on Gyndine, Darth Vandak used sun djem on Cienis Favand, slicing apart one of Cienis's two lightsabers. Vandak later employed an unusual variant of sun djem: when Elmir attacked him with telekinetic lightsaber combat, Vandak cut apart the levitated lightsabers.[5]

When Halambo and Zee Pek confronted Breek Zagrev in the Zi-Kree Sector, Zee Pek used sun djem on Breek, cutting off the barrel of her blaster pistol.
