Strike Team Aegis was an elite strike team/task force formed in 3643 BBY by Grand Master Satele Shan. Satele sought to bring together the most elite agents in the Galactic Republic to partake in the most dangerous and vital missions. There were four core members of Strike Team Aegis and each core member traveled with their own entourage, bringing the task force's total number of personnel up to twenty-four.
Under the direction of Grand Master Shan, Strike Team Aegis undertook important missions for the Galactic Republic during the Cold War and the subsequent Second Great War. One mission undertaken by Strike Team Aegis involved rescuing Revan from the Maelstrom, a high-security prison built by the Sith Emperor to himself to hold his most dangerous enemies. Following the outbreak of the Second Great War, Strike Team Aegis participated in numerous important battles including the defense of Ilum and the attempted liberation and subsequent evacuation of Makeb. Throughout all this time, Strike Team Aegis often came into conflict with Strike Team Fury, their Empire-aligned equivalency.
In 3637 BBY, the resurrection of the Sith Emperor at the hands of an insane Revan necessitated an alliance between the Republic and the Empire. In order to effectively hunt down the renegade Emperor, Strike Teams Fury and Aegis formed the core of the newly-formed Yavin Coalition. When the Eternal Empire made itself known in 3636 BBY, the Yavin Coalition served as the Galaxy's vanguard against the mysterious invaders. Despite the Coalition's best efforts, it was defeated by the Eternal Empire. Darth Marr was killed during the fight against the Eternal Empire while the core members of Strike Team Fury and Strike Team Aegis where captured and taken back to the Eternal Empire's capital world of Zakuul. Following the Eternal Empire's conquest, both Strike Team Fury and Strike Team Aegis were officially disbanded and its remaining members were scattered across the Galaxy.
The core members of Strike Teams Fury and Aegis would reappear in the year 3631 BBY. Upon returning to the Galactic Republic, the remnants of Strike Team Aegis were reorganized into Task Force Nova under the command of Jedi Master Zeck Lathorne. The newly formed Task Force Nova would serve in the much same capacity as the previous Strike Team Fury, acting as an elite task force charged with undertaking dangerous and vital missions for the Republic. Unlike its predecessor however, Task Force Nova was also focused on rebuilting the Jedi Order which had been fractured during the war against the Eternal Empire.
