Starlight Orphanage was a childcare institution that provided food, water and shelter to orphans under the age of responsibility in the Talusian city of Dearic. Founded by the Talusian government as apart of a refugee housing initiative during the Clone Wars, Starlight was one of many underfunded infamously mismanaged childcare facilities out there.
In 27 BBY, after her seventh birthday, Arden Vandyne Ava was relocated and put under the care of the facilities caretakers. Arden started making friends as time flew by but was distraught as many of her friends ended up either being adopted or uncharacteristically running away. Due to the large number of instances of runaways, not just in Starlight but in others, rumors started circulating around as to what it could be. Younger children of the orphanage and others sometimes believed the runaways were actually abductees Lord Nyax.
During the Siege of Daeric the orphanage and surrounding buildings were destroyed after a Talusian corvette lost it's engine power during battle.
Behind the scenes[]
Starlight was the name originally given to a space station akin to Black Stall Station under the ownership of Anxan Minor Star. The author briefly considered making Anxan Minor an orphan as well whom would be under the care of the orphanage and would've had had a closer relationship to Arden Vandyne off the bat.
