Star Wars Palpatine: A Rebirth is a non-existent English novel by Victor Adams, published on November 23, 2027.
The main mission of Star Wars Palpatine: A Rebirth is to fill the plotholes of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The action of the novel is set in 35 BBY, right between the movie's actual plot and the Rey-on-Tatooine epilogue.
The title of the book, much like the very book, is a pure mockery of the translation of the The Rise of Skywalker movie title into Polish, Skywalker. Odrodzenie (literally Skywalker: The/A Rebirth).
Summary[]
The Just People has won. While Rey, Poe, and Finn cuddle as if nothing had happened, more and more worlds of the galaxy continue to fall victim to the Sithan Star Destroyers, equipped with planet-destroying superlasers. Although the Exegol Palpatine clone is gone, his fleet appears to be doing quite well. Now, a Ben Solo Force spirit descends on Ajan Kloss and advises the Resistance to leave the planet as soon as possible, for he has found that the joint forces of the First Order and the Final Order are about to blow it up.
The Ben Solo spirit informs the Resistance that the Final Order is in fact not so final a threat as it may seem. A new danger has emerged: the Moraband Palpatine clone, who has long waited to reveal himself until the Exegol Palpatine clone is of no more concern. The Moraband clone, too, has a deadly navy, as well capable of destroying whole planets.
Rey is overconfident now that he has managed to defeat Palpatine of Exegol with but a pair of super-strong lightsabers of the Skywalkers. Also, she honestly believes she can invoke the dead Jedi, a feat that not only the Exegol clone, but also she herself bought into. Rey supposes that, as she once dealt with the Exegol Palpatine clone, she can now beat the Moraband one. Thus, after she shares a goodbye kiss with Ben Solo, she distracts her companions' attention and mounts the Red Five X-wing starfighter along with BB-8. Rey starts the ship and heads for Moraband, where she assumes her sworn enemy bides her arrival.
Now, the Ben Solo spirit finds he needs to leave Ajan Kloss, too. Thus, he evacuates on board of the Millennium Falcon along with Poe, Finn, Klaud, Chewbacca, and Landonis Balthazar. Once the planet has exploded, Ben fears that Rey may find herself unable to defeat the Moraband Palpatine clone. Therefore, he suggests that they look to Anaakin Skywalker.
A retrospection follows. It is revealed that during the Clone Wars Chancellor Palpatine secretly cheated Anakin Skywalker out of his semen. With the aid of the Kaminoans, he subsequently attempted to create a Chosen One clone of his own, one he could use in case that the prototype of the Chosen One should refuse to turn to the dark side. A 54-year-old Chose-N1 now resides on Naboo, married to a former servant of Padmé Amidala with two twin children. Poe and Finn go to Naboo alone, as the Ben Solo spirit has another errand to run.
Ben clothes himself in Kylo Ren's armor and delivers a speech to the Final Order and First Order joint fleet, claiming a right to the authority over the state. The Admirals, who would rather focus on fighting than doing politics, do not take long to consent. However, a dispute arises between the First Order and the Final Order loyalists apropos correct phrasing. While the former see Kylo Ren as the Supreme Leader, the latter view him as the Galactic Emperor. In the end, the FOFO is established, an acronym standing for First Order/Final Order.
Kylo Ren commissions that the planet-destroying Star Destroyer fleet head for Moraband. A battle commences during which the Moraband Palpatine clone's fleet, also known as the Post-Final Order, is under the command of a homosexual Admiral Yoku. The Millennium Falcon soon joins the fight, carrying Finn, Poe, Klaud, Landonis, and Chewbacca on board.
While the final battle continues over the planet, Rey is going for a confrontation with Palpatine down on the surface. Upon entering, she draws her two lightsabers and calls down all the Jedi. Unlike his Exegol counterpart, the Moraband Palpatine clone is reluctant to being taken into this gimmick and simply Force-pushes Rey aside, himself continuing his triumph. He loses confidence only when the Ben Solo spirit and Anaakin Skywalker stand before him[Note 1]. The Palpatine clone attacks the duo with Force-lightning. However, they two elegantly intercept the beam. During the fight, the Ben Solo spirit dies. A similar fate is shortly suffered by Anaakin, who before his death manages to catch Palpatine by the waist and throw him down a deep pit, where the former Emperor surely dies.
Little does Anaakin realize that the Moraband Palpatine clone, in his last act of will, broadcast a message for all the remaining Palpatine clones that they beware of Rey Palpatine. (Even though the girl, after knocked unconscious, was lying around throughout the fight).
An awakened Rey now evacuates from Moraband. Having entered space, she is intercepted by Admiral Yoku. The two characters engage in a romance. Rey manages to convert Yoku, to the point that the latter she orders her inferiors to surrender. This way, the joint forces of the FOFO, the Resistance, and the Just People win.
Rey is disappointed that the lightsabers of Luke and Leia failed to work this time. As a result, she decides to dispose of them. Together with BB-8, she goes to Tatooine, where she intends to bury the weapons by the Lars homestead. When all seems to be over, a Tatooine Palpatine clone stops by and asks Rey's name. Only now do Luke Skywalker's and Leia Skywalker Organa Solo's spirits haunt the girl. They telepathically discourage Rey from revealing her identity, knowing who the Tatooine lady is deep inside. Finally, Rey introduces herself as Rey Skywalker, and the Tatooine Palpatine clone, who just wanted to find if the girl with a yellow lightsaber she saw from afar was her granddaughter, keeps going her own way.
Notes[]
- ↑ The novel does not precise the way that the Ben Solo spirit and Anaakin Skywalker got to the planet. Anaakin was last seen on Naboo, which he could not have abandoned with Poe and Finn, as they are now fighting over Moraband. Ben, in turn, was busy supreme-leadering the FOFO. This unfortunate plothole was filled with the concept of Force teleportation.
