Star Wars Legacies is the fifth and current role-playing timeline on TheStarWarsRP.Com. The timeline began on July 19, 2011. After having role-played two timelines during the Knights of the Old Republic era and two prequel timelines circa 13,000 BBY, the setting of the website went forward in time to 1,011 ABY, during the Post-Legacy era, for the fifth timeline.
Currently, the primary storyline centers around the Third Galactic Civil War between the resurgent Sith, who have taken control of the New Sith Imperium, and their Galactic Alliance and New Jedi Order adversaries. Also involved are the Chiss Ascendancy, which is allied with the Imperium, and the Mandalorians who were originally planned to be the nemeses of the Chiss but eventually became an enemy of the Galactic Alliance. The Imperial Knights-in-exile was a primary faction for a time.
During the Great Hutt Wars, the website’s fourth timeline, the pre-Knights of the Old Republic setting and the course of the storyline were generating discontent amongst the website’s members, leading the administrators to propose three potential new timelines: the Knights of the Old Republic era, the New Sith Wars era, and the concept that became Star Wars Legacies. The Legacies idea was approved by the site membership, and a think tank of administrators, fourth timeline faction leaders, and other members was put together to develop the timeline prior to its launch in the summer of 2011.
The fifth timeline introduced the Legacy Quests, plot devices meant to connect to events and items from the past.
