Welcome to the Seventh Wiki Awards—Voting Session

The Seventh Wiki Awards holocast on HBC4 is sponsored in part by the Propaganda Arm of the Empire of the HandAre you in Good Hands?

Ladies, Gentlemen, and Multi-gends of the galaxy, it is time to vote for your favorites from this year's Wiki Awards. Atarumaster88 and Fiolli welcome you to the voting session.

The nominations are in! Here is a quick review of the voting schedule:

  • Main session: 18 January 2012, 00:00 EST – 31 January 2012, 11:45pm EST
  • Tie-breaker Round: 1–5 February 2012 (if necessary)

This year we are using a preferential ballot as the voting procedure. Users can cast a first and second place vote in each category. First place votes equate to five points; second place votes equate to two points. The total points given at the end of voting will determine a winner. If the point totals are tied, the number of first place followed by second place votes will be used as the tie-breaker. If both tie-breakers fail, a five day runoff will be used. The winners will be announced on the 7WA mainpage once all voting has completed. Handy little awards just might be given out, too!

There are a lot of diverse articles. We encourage all voters to take some time and read through the nominations. Judge works based upon the foremost categories of creativity and content. Once familiar with the nominations, be bold in your voting! Don't worry about stepping on anyone's toes… No, General B'Rhea, that wasn't directed at you… Yes, we know it's a sore subject. Please, sir, just sit down.

Let's just get to the rules.

Voting Rules and Guidelines

There are some basic rules that will apply to the voting process. Please read these rules carefully before proceeding.

  1. No new nominations.
  2. Each user is encouraged to cast a first and second place vote. Single votes cast in a category will default to first place votes.
  3. No second place votes may be cast unless a first place vote is cast, and second place votes must be for a different entry than the first place votes.
  4. The creator, author, or co-author is not allowed to vote for one's own work.
    1. Co-authorship, for the purposes of this event, is defined as either (1) having performed any permitted edit to an article that was more involved than the correction of grammar, spelling, linking, code fixing, or minor aesthetic tweaks or (2) having collaborated in the content generation of the nominated item in any way.
  5. The creator or author may pull the nomination from voting at any time.
  6. If an entry in question is deleted or drastically edited to make it no longer qualify for the category for which it was nominated, the entry shall be removed from voting altogether.
  7. The voting policy will be enforced in full.
  8. The format for voting is as follows:
*#'''First/Second place vote.''' Comments (if desired) ~~~~
For example, a first place vote for an article might look like the following in the edit screen:
    1. First place vote. This is awesome! Atarumaster88 12 January 30045 BBY, 29:42 CTC

Note: If two first or two second place votes are cast in the same category by a single voter, the hosts of the awards reserve the right to strike both votes without warning or notification. If preference(s) is not specified on two votes, the votes will be struck. If only a single vote is cast without preference, it is assumed to be a first-place vote.

Did we spend too much time in Club StarDust last night, or is that enough rules? Let's get on with the voting! Before we forget: if there are any questions, please feel free to ask on the talk page. Now, let's vote!

Please make certain that the rules and category guidelines above have been read before voting. In particular, note your FIRST AND SECOND preference for each category.
