  5. Frankly I wouldn't have believed it, had anyone told me that I would someday read about a "Jedi Mandalorian" character that was actually creative, well-written, and meshed properly with the rest of established lore. Well, here it is I guess. But I'd like to give an honorable mention to Mormill for being an original concept as well. - MPK, Memelord of the Sith 03:16, April 16, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Very well written. I was torn between this and Mormill. Hard choice. The fact that Sebolto took this from Canon and made it into an entire character to fit in the Legends timeline is how it got my vote.—Octology (speaketh) 03:03, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
  7. I was between Tarre Vizsla and Kaevee for a good long while. I love Kaevee and Evil Gizmo, but Kaevee's still a bit "light side because that's what I was raised to be". Tarre Vizsla is a fully-formed Jedi—a flawed Jedi, admittedly, with many foibles, but his conflicts only make him that much more interesting a character. I admit I almost groaned when I read about the Curse of Graush in the intro, but Sebolto defied my instinctive wince and handled that well too—neither overdoing the boons nor ignoring the downsides that make it a curse, rather than just being cursed with awesome. I also respect the "feasible fanon" approach here. I don't even like Rebels, and yet I really enjoyed this character. I'm interested to see how Kaevee develops as the UK3S progresses, but until then, Tarre Vizsla gets my vote. SakarosTalk 16:42, April 19, 2020 (UTC)
  8. I was torn for quite a while between Gwendolyn Diomedes and Tarre Vizla, but the sheer amount of detail work and effort to flesh out the fanonized version of a canon character eventually won out over the admittedly creative page design of the former. Kaevee is also a runner-up in this category and would have been my third choice.  Sephiroth0812 (Talk) 09:38, April 20, 2020 (UTC)
  9. Looks like this category is going to be a close call! In all seriousness, Sebolto has done well to combine elements of canon with Legends material. Boomdodger (message wall) 19:55, April 24, 2020 (UTC)

  2. I struggled mightily between this article and Anwis Eddicus. Candidly, I think Fiolli's article is more cleanly written and lacks some of the plot holes Dorne Teague has. That said, I find the antagonists in Teague's story more three-dimensional, and the scope and tragedy of Teague's story more compelling. There's also something to be said for recognizing newer blood on the Wiki. With all that in mind, Teague just edges out Eddicus for me. SakarosTalk 16:44, April 14, 2020 (UTC)

  5. Tough decision between Dorne and Eddicus. I enjoyed the politics and realism of Eddicus's story, however I found there to be a slightly more fantastical side to Dorne Teague's story, which barely earns my vote. Boomdodger (message wall) 19:55, April 24, 2020 (UTC)

  1. Articles on politicians are rare to find and well-written & thought out articles on politicians are an even rarer breed. Frankly surprised this hasn't already won over the years but about time one of the signature articles from one of this wiki's preeminent and well-respected authors gets its due. -I'm the Chosen One
  2. This article is clearly well-written and had effort put into it. The character feels like it could've existed in the Star Wars universe and makes for an interesting read.  LordOfTheNeverThere (Talk) 21:32, April 12, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Fiolli's always been one of this wiki's underappreciated authors. I love the GAotR series almost as much as I love the UNSWS—the former was one of the first series I explored when I began contributing here. SeboltoTalk 09:28, April 13, 2020 (UTC)
  4.  J.J. Cushwex (Talk) 19:11, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  5. It's good to see some characters breaking out from the usual mold of smugglers, crime lords, mercenaries, bounty hunters or military officers which are often first choice for non-force sensitive characters. A politician is also a challenge to write well so I'll honor that as well.  Sephiroth0812 (Talk) 21:03, April 24, 2020 (UTC)

  1. Captain Ricky has done an excellent job developing the character CT-411, aka commander Ponds. He has expanded his story, delved deeper into his relationship with Mace Windu, captured his essence, and made the character grow more on me as a reader. It is obvious that he has poured his heart and soul into this clone. User:General B.H. (Talk) 6:09, April 13, 2020 (GMT + 1)

  7. Taking an already existing character from a work which didn't get that much attention in canon and flesh them out is a certain challenge in itself which I think was done well here.  Sephiroth0812 (Talk) 14:12, April 25, 2020 (UTC)

  3. I generally don't care for clone trooper stories, but each of these was an interesting read in its own way. That said, although Thexan's is the shortest article, it's also the most cleanly-written, avoiding some NPOV and other issues present in the others. It's also an atypical take on a clone, most of whom tend to gravitate to extremes of good and evil in fan-fiction. SakarosTalk 15:51, April 13, 2020 (UTC)

  7. I was honestly torn between all three nominations. I've read through most of Ricky's series, and enjoyed Ponds's development; it was an interesting decision for him to deviate from his fate in the show. And I was tempted to vote for Thorner, because I do actually know his fate and recognize not only the true complexity of his character arc, but also the several years of work that have gone into the evolution of his story (known the author for years!). I ultimately decided to go with Thexan. His story is unique compared to most clone troopers (although to some extent you could argue that about all these articles). To me, writing clones is an intricate art that with one misstep can quickly become cliche or generic, and I think Mazro has done well to avoid that. Someone get this man an award! 3. It was a very close call between this and North Star as both are very well written and you can loose yourself thinking those articles being descriptions of actual celestial bodies. What gave Odestria the edge in my case was seeing how the author obviously has thought out the planet itself in much detail even if not everything is written yet, which also reminds me of my own predicament in having so many thoughts about stuff and not enough time to write it all down.  Sephiroth0812 (Talk) 14:18, April 25, 2020 (UTC)

Sins of the Father by Sakaros

  1. The amount of work done already by the Untitled Sith Series, is in it's self a feature. But now reading this installment, it really sucks you in to the dynamic characters, expert wordplay, and most of all, great story and basis. Sir Ummelord 11:38, April 12, 2020 (UTC)
  2. I only read the excerpts, didn't have enough time to read everything, but this was the one I was most intruiged by. J.J. Cushwex (Talk) 20:20, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  3. I like the dialogue. Good arcs too. —Octology (speaketh) 03:03, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
  4. So for a change I was fortunate, for of the five nominations herein, I wrote one myself and had already read two, this one and Ataru's. As for Ricky's and B.H.'s entries, I gave them each a shot, and though they did not hold my interest enough to read them in their entirety, the concepts themselves are decent, and I would encourage both authors to continue to hone their craft. As for those that remain: I think Sins of the Father is so far the best entry in a series that has little in the way of weak links. Part of me is conflicted about voting for this one over The Cauldron, which I also rather enjoyed. Each one belongs to a series gargantuan in size and absurd in meticulous construction, and so I'm sure the fact of my having read the rest of the UNSWS and nothing else of Ataru's work has colored how I'd stack the two stories against one another. It is what it is. I will read Force Exile one of these bloody days... - MPK, Memelord of the Sith 11:43, April 20, 2020 (UTC)

Torchbearer by MPK

  1. I'm still salty that Sakaros removed my nomination of Moments of Truth in favor of Sins of the Father, so I'm going to throw a fit & refuse to vote for him out of spite.

Just kidding. I didn't dislike SotF (is it even possible for me to dislike an UNSWS installment?) but it didn't really stick around in my subconscious the way Torchbearer has. Given my general inability to enjoy anything that doesn't share in my love for slavish adherence to EU canon, any work that can successfully sell me on an alternate universe where established post-KotOR II lore is unceremoniously chucked out the window is worthy of my vote. I'm not even MPK's target audience; I remember enjoying the KotOR games, but I haven't played them in years & I never particularly cared for the Old Sith Wars/Inter-Sith Wars eras in which they are set. The fact that I'm looking forward to a sequel & planning on rereading Torchbearer in the near future is compelling enough reason for me to vote in this work's favor.

As an aside, I was tempted to vote for The Cauldron as well. It's a great piece that's a bit more up my alley in terms of setting & subject matter; I only wish it had been longer than a novella. It felt a bit rushed at certain parts, & I would have loved to have seen more of the furtive acts of subterfuge between Spectre & Taskien's team that preceded the main action set piece. SeboltoTalk 11:57, April 18, 2020 (UTC)
  2. I've read all of the works in this category, and to me, it was either Sins of the Father or Torchbearer. The other two (that aren't mine) frankly are not in the same class in terms of writing. I'm with Sebolto in that I don't love KotOR-era content or AU stories, but Torchbearer was sufficiently gripping that I still must commend MPK. I thought Sins of the Father was also of high-quality, but I had enough narrative complaints with it (detailed elsewhere in my review of it) that I do not think it is the stronger work, particularly not on its own. Thus, Torchbearer wins my vote this year in a heated final matchup. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 00:15, April 20, 2020 (UTC)
  3. I ended up never getting around to reading these stories to the point that all I could do was read excerpts and form an opinion based on intrigue. Torchbearer ended up piquing my interest. After skimming through the plot summary, Torchbearer felt like classic Star Wars to me, ultimately earning my vote. Boomdodger (message wall) 19:55, April 24, 2020 (UTC)

  4. It was a close call between Sakaros and B.H, but I ultimately chose this, as his books are super similar to real Star Wars books.—Octology (speaketh) 03:03, April 17, 2020 (UTC)

General B.H.

  1. The amount of creativity he put in with both his alternate universe of What if Anakin didn't Dew it and the audio files from Revisiting Endor has proved what a versatile author he is. The General gets my vote! Captain Ricky (talk) 15:24, April 12, 2020 (UTC)
