Welcome one and all to the first Star Wars Fanon Wiki short story contest! We're trying this out to gauge interest in fan-fiction and give out awards to recognize people. And maybe even ignite a few sparks of community interest. Yeah right, who I am kidding? Lol

In all seriousness, we encourage you to write and submit stories for reading and reviewing if you're interested in doing so. It doesn't have to be a massive novel that took you three years to write. In fact, the other readers will prefer that it's not.

Also, we have a ringing endorsement from Brandon Rhea himself, who said something along the lines of "Make it so, Number One." No idea who Number One is, but there you have it. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 19:11, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

The rules

Length: Your story must be between 5,000 and 25,000 words. Your story will not necessarily be judged on length, so don't feel the need to pad your word count.
Nominations: You can nominate your own story. You can nominate someone else's story. Don't vote for your own story. If you nominate someone else's story and they wish for it to be taken down, tough luck, it will be removed.
Multiple entries: You can nominate as many stories you like, for as many categories as you like. If you nominate a story in a category that it clearly doesn't belong (e.g. you place a fic about commandos blowing things up in the best romance category), it will be removed by the Archivists, who are refereeing this contest.
Finished stories only, please.
Content: Any story that fails the content policy will be removed from the running and/or administrators will be notified.
Voting: Please vote once per category.
Medium: Text stories only. No comics, videos, video games, etc. Can be an article, pdf, etc.

Special userboxes and talk page templates will be made to give you some shiny bling to show off on your story's page and on your userpage. I thought I overheard Darth Tom say he'd give admin powers to all the winners Libel is bad, children. Tongue

Moreover, there's a distinct possibility that any especially great stories can be taken to the Featured Work nomination page by the Archivists and posted on the front page. So, if you want to collect even more shiny eye-candy, this is a great way to do it.

  • Nominations: They will run through November 14. That gives you nearly six weeks to plan and write your story if you don't have one finished. Note: If any category receives less than 3 nominations, the Archivists will decide whether or not it will be included in the voting stage.
  • Voting: November 15 up until 1 December. That way we don't overlap with the 5th Wiki Awards, which will presumably start up near the end of the year.

So…have fun! Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 19:11, October 4, 2009 (UTC)
