#Greetings, fellow patriots. It is I, Captain America. I come before you today offering up the services of another fellow communist hunter named TK-999 for the vaunted position of a wiki administrator. This fine citizen will bring glory to the western world by marching straight into Leningrad and punching Stalin right in the face. <-- That was an inside joke from earlier today on Community Central Chat. That said, I am nominating TK, with his permission, for admin on the wiki. From his presence on Community Central and across Wikia, he’s proven to be a very tech savvy Wikian. Our coding here on SWFanon is woefully out of date and lulzworthy, and he’ll be able to keep up to date on coding and MediaWiki functions that other admins, myself included, are unable to do. When speaking with users both here and across Wikia, I have observed that he has a very personable and even-handed tone that is needed in administrators if we’re going to move forward with the vision we discussed here, a goal that he shares. He’s a fantastic user on SWFanon and has earned the respect and trust of the users here, and he will make an excellent addition to the admin team. He has my full support. - <font color="#1A2BBB">Brandon Rhea</font><staff /><font color="#1A2BBB">(talk)</font> 19:25, March 7, 2012 (UTC)

#After much pondering, I have come to the conclusion that if Brandon is Captain America, TK is his shield... or maybe not. At any rate, he's a great user who is rational and nonemotional, very code savvy, and a nice person. Plus, having another capable user on the admin team will help take some of the responsibilities off of their shoulders. While SWF doesn't need sixty admins, adding someone like TK is an all around win scenario. Wiki

This page is for users to place requests for adminship (RFA), which are elections held to elect new administrators. An Administrator is a user with more privileges than a regular user; administrators have rollback rights, deletion rights, protection rights, and also have the duty to enforce the rules, assist all users, enforce blocks, and maintain organization throughout Star Wars Fanon. The current administrators are as follows: Brandon Rhea, C3PO the Dragon Slayer, Wayne "CurrentBigThing" Lipman III, Andrew "Drewton" Barton, Jasca Ducato, Gnosis is knowledge, Goodwood, Nacen, Christian "NKSCF" Ashley, Solus, and Trak Nar.

See the archive to view previous requests for adminiship election details.

Rules

The following are the rules for requests for adminship:

1. Users must have 100 mainspace edits to be nominated for adminship and/or to vote on a nominee, per the voting policy.
2. Users may not vote for or against themselves, but they may nominate themselves.
3. Users must have at least a majority vote (51%) from the voting registered users in order for their nomination to pass.
4. Users must have at least a majority vote (51%) from all administrators in order for their nomination to pass.

Users may only vote once per candidate, which is logical; if they are going to oppose a user, however, they should provide a solid concrete reason. A support vote adds one tally to the net votes of a nominee, and an oppose vote subtracts one tally; a neutral vote does nothing, mathematically. Users who have been barred from voting may not vote if their punishment is still ongoing, and, as the voting policy states, vandals and sockpuppets may not vote either.

To set up a request for adminship of a nominee or of oneself, a user must provide the following format:

2. Absolutely. Access to sysop tools will help him to keep the wiki running smoothly without having to bug the other admins. He has demonstrated that he can be trusted, and is always there to offer advice to new and old users alike. Gold star, mate!

3. Heck yes! Soon, I'll be applying for a job and won't be able to hang around all night long like I used to, so having TK around will work out perfectly. Trak Nar Ramble on 04:10, March 9, 2012 (UTC)

• Brandon brought my attention to the new RfA. Whilst I do not feel I necessarily deserve to vote for or against any nomination due to my unfortunate lack of presence here, I will say this; what few interactions I had with TK-999 impressed me, and after quickly checking over his contributions since my departure, I can see not much has changed in that regard.
This all said, I would say that, if I did vote, I would most certainly support TK's nomination for SysOps, and I hope he does a better job than I could ever do. --Darth Abeonis Sith Council Sith Campaign 04:13, March 9, 2012 (UTC)

Questions

1. How long have you been a Fanoneer?
• Since July 21, 2010—137 years after Jesse's first successful train robbery.
2. What does your experience during this time teach you about being an admin?
• My initial activities here, combined with my cross–Wikia involvement since middle 2011, gave me a lot of chances to help other contributors, registered or unregistered, during which I learned that one needed to be polite, knowledgeable and reassuring in order to be a valuable asset to both the established community and new members. Those who join Wikia are usually not very self–confident and are afraid of discussion, scared by even a short warning, therefore it is the community's responsibility to guide them until they feel they are ready and acclimatized. As the honorific “leaders” and the people signing the welcome messages, it is primarily the administrators who need to comply with this responsibility, providing answers to questions, clear and concise notices in case of wrongdoing and express their happiness with valuable contribution. Encouragement of new users is a key pillar of wiki administration.
• On the technical side, I, with the help of the collection of self–proclaimed experts on Community Central and various websites in the mutated spiderweb that had become known as the Internet, familiarized myself with the ins and outs of the HTML structure of Wikia, not counting Monaco—Pie Iesū domině / Bona eis requiem—and its long–dead predecessors. If I'm told to do something in this aspect of the site, I am likely to be able to do it, unless it is implausible or requires complex scripting.
3. What makes good content on Star Wars Fanon?
• Good content is simply content that adheres to the guidelines and is reasonable. The latter part of the definition is personal opinion, of course, but I do not have any other rulesets in my mind when it comes to judging articles or fan fiction, be it about a clone trooper fighting with his emotions or an orgy of Sith centered around Revan. Should something come to violate the "plausible clause," I'd request the involvement of other users.
4. What makes a good Fanoneer?
• In my opinion, for one to become a valuable asset to the site, the user must get involved, either by helping with maintenance or voicing their opinion in the appropriate medium. It is only natural for newcomers to stay out of wiki–wide issues and work on their fanon or fan fiction, but beyond a point of active time and contributions, one would need to put down something in the wiki arm of the seesaw to balance it. One need not be a busy chatter on IRC or in chat, just someone who shows dedication to SWFanon as a wider organization.
5. If you could identify one problem that you could fix right now, what would it be?
• Warning messages that new users may find intimidating.
1. How can you solve this as an administrator?
• The principal method would be simply to post more carefully worded and detailed messages that tell the user what they—perhaps unknowingly—violated, what was done to remedy it and what should be remembered in the meantime. When one comes to the wiki, they are not familiar with the policies, which means that they need guidance—to a reasonable extent. However, even if one has been proven to be ignorant, feedback needs to be maintained unless its redundancy is verified.
2. How can non-administrators help solve this?
• Exactly the same way, but without having to care about enforcement. TK999 19:55, March 7, 2012 (UTC)
6. How should a new Fanoneer be welcomed?
• The welcome message, I think, should inform the user that Star Wars Fanon is a wiki with an open community where one can write almost anything, but with style guidelines. A complete list of the policies is not really necessary upon starting, just a collection of the most important ones, which, in my opinion, are the MOS, the image policy and corresponding tutorial as well as the layout guide.
7. Do you prefer to give users a lot of rope to learn how to follow policies, or do you prefer strong policy enforcement?
• Somewhere in between. New users need time to get used to the way a wiki works and dig their way through the Manual of style and corresponding articles, an effort which others should contribute to. Only after persistent ignorance should one prescribe a block.
8. In what circumstances should an administrator speedy delete an article?
• Lack of content (i.e. blank page), excess profanity/sexuality, vandalism (Vandalismus vulgaris) or spam.
9. What does the term “community” on Star Wars Fanon mean to you?
• The set formed by the union of the collection of users who actively contribute to the site and interact with it by participating in wiki&ndash, wide discussion and newly joined users. Uniting these two halves is essential to the existence of the whole.
10. How can we help new Fanoneers participate in the community?
• By providing guidance, reassurance and encouragement, answering questions that arise during the process of exploring the wiki, suggesting improvements to or just compliment their articles and eliminating the initial fear from getting involved.
11. How can we help encourage current Fanoneers to encourage new Fanoneers to participate?
• By informing them of the huge benefits it has and the fact that it has little to no backdrops. Naturally, this is also a gradual process: those who had just started getting involved should not be demanded to participate in the process at once as if in a warzone but allowed to join at the time they feel comfortable.
12. What is your most positive personal attribute that you will bring to your role as an admin?
• My neutrality—that I can push back any raw emotions that might surface.
13. What is a negative personal attribute that you will have to work on as an admin?
• My personal standards on quality.
14. What can you bring to the admin team that other admins have not or cannot?
15. What is your opinion on the current administrators (do not name names)?
• I consider them great and hardworking users, developers of carefully designed and technogotically clean fan fiction arrays and relentless inquisitors of those who visit the wiki with malicious intent despite their limits with regards to availability due to real life.
16. Why do you want to be an administrator?
• I have been informed of the lack of users experienced with cascading style sheets and related standards that help the background of the wiki run. Feedback I've received from both users of SWFanon and miscellaneous Wikia users also appear to confirm the belief that I am eligible for a position with more responsibilities than a user without such permits.
17. What is your favorite Star Wars film? Hint: Episode II is punishable by death.
18. How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
• Depends on the subspecies and/or the amount of time spent in the vicinity of nuclear waste storage areas. TK999 20:21, March 7, 2012 (UTC)
