Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire was a comic series created by Vrabou that told of the adventure of Kyle Katarn in the years after he successfully sabotaged the Dark Trooper project. In the series, Kyle Katarn was chased after by a dark knight named Darth Nickal, who was intent on exacting retribution for the damage that Katarn had caused to the Galactic Empire.

Opening crawl

Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire After the Empire had successfully abolished the Rebel base on Hoth, the Rebel Alliance struck back by destroying an Imperial base ran by a dark knight named Darth Nickal. Nickal, with limited knowledge of the darkside of the force is commanded to meet the Emperor on the super star destroyer, the Executor, and face his dark wrath. However, the Emperor has a different intention for Nickal. A challenge that could decide his fate, to stay alive and remain loyal to the Emperor, or be destroyed by the power from the Emperor's indignation…

Behind the Scenes

According to the author Vrabou, Katarn's previous experience with Darth Nickal, a force active imperial, allowed him to survive against all seven dark jedi in Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, 2 years later with no training or priror experience with the force.

The comic series originally was supposed to end at the 2nd battle of Felucia comic, when the author decided to add in an extra twist, causing the series to run over into one more comic.
