The Skirmish on Ankarr (Cruentusian War) was a small battle of the Cruentusian War. It occured a short while after the Skirmish in Ilatas and the Battle of Kothlis, when the Zayre, having made themselves enemies of the Necasian Military by rescuing its ousted leader Carsal Redharn, re-settled on Ankarr, which they had already been too following a previous battle earlier on. As they set themselves up on the planet, they discovered that the mercenary faction known as the Savi Alliance had set up a camp on the planet. With Askar Invado, the leader of the Necasians, having placed a large bounty on the whole Zayre civilisation, the Zayre had to race to eradicate the Savis before they gave away the Zayre presence on Ankarr.
Prelude[]

The Savi camp
Following the Skirmish in Ilatas, the Zayre now found themselves enemies of both major factions of the war. Nonetheless, they had one ace in the hole: Carsal Redharn, who was now acting as a consort to Ironwings, and was providing intelligence and advice to the Zayre. Some of the more conservative Zayre objected to the idea of a male being so highly positioned in their ranks, but Ironwings defended herself by pointing out that they would need all the help they could get to survive.
After a week or so of travelling through space, the Zayre arrived on Ankarr, and began setting up shop. Ironwings decreed that Ankarr was to become their new home, and tasked the Zayre with building a new capital city for the Zayre, starting with a grand temple. Basic prefab shelters were set up, but Zayre architects were already making plans for proper houses.
However, a few days after the Zayre arrival, a Zayre scout discovered that they were not alone on Ankarr. She had uncovered a fairly large camp not too far from the location of the semi-constucted Zayre city, which looked adequately defended. Redharn analysed images of the camp, and announced that it belonged to the Savi Alliance mercenary faction, and noted that they were fielding Necasian equipment and in some cases uniform and armour. He was unsure were they had got that from, but decided that it was irrelevant. He also noted that they had not yet got their communications equipment online, but were on the verge of doing so; and with Askar Invado having placed a huge bounty on the entire Zayre civilisation, Redharn announced that eliminating the Savis before they got a message out revealing the Zayre Ankarr presence was a priority. Ironwings agreed, and mustered a strike force. Redharn advised not to underestimate the Savis, but Ironwings somewhat arrogantly felt that eliminating them would be no problem.
The skirmish[]
Engaging[]
Heads up, ya little shaits! Let's show these bitches why they shouldn't kriff with us!
—A Savi commander
Swooping towards the Savi camp, the Zayre used their lightning powers to take out several nests of Savi troops along the perimeter, but were suprised when other troops launched a barrage of anti-air missiles at them with NWD-STI88 anti-air missile launchers. Some of the more experianced Zayre used their powers to create electical fields around themselves that confused the missiles and sent them flying away, but some of the novice ones were taken out by the barrage.
Mobilizing quicker than the Zayre had expected, Savi troops riding Lynx quads tore through the hills around th base, firing at the Zayre with missile launchers and NWD-JR5 heavy machineguns fixed to the quads. Ironwings moved quickly to drive some of the quads into a canyon, where she promptly had other Zayre block both sides with rockfalls, trapping the Savis, and allowing the Zayre to pick them off with impunity. Redharn then informed Ironwings via a Zayre courier to work on taking out the Savi comm array before they could send a message out.
Taking out the base[]
Irownings took his advice, and moved towards the Savi camp, with Savi techs working on alinging their communications dish. Ironwings tried to use lightning to take the dish from above, but coupled with its toughness and the missile barrages the Savis were spewing causing her not to focus, she was having difficulty doing so. Thinking quickly, she ordered the elite Zayre to focus their lightning around the base, creating a field of electrostatic that scrambled the targeting computers of the Savi missile launchers. Undettered, the Savis switched to heavy machinegun fire, taking out some Zayre with their armour-piercing bullets.
However, the static had also scrambled the comm computer in the dish, effectively rendering it useless. Ironwings took out the landing pad at the base, cutting off the Savi escape route, and whipped up a dust storm that confused and disorientated the mercenaries. The Zayre then moved in, taking out the blinded mercs in close combat. Others moved over the surrounding hills, taking out any remaining quads. Redharn suggested to leave at least a few alive, and Ironwings eventually found one, and began interrogating him. The mercenary revealed that the Savis had gained their equipment and hardware from a third party, but died of wounds before he could reveal more. Nonetheless, with the Savi force completely wiped out, Ironwings was satisfied with this victory.
Aftermath[]
Following the battle, the Savis were disturbed at the disappearance of their camp, but thought it better not to send a taskforce. Meanwhile, the Zayre realised that they were not absolutely safe even on what they regarded as a safe haven, and thus, under pressure from Redharn, began to consider defence plans in the event of an invasion.
