We are relatively few in numbers, brothers, but we are all that is necessary to liberate the oppressed people of this galaxy from the imperialists! The Necasians go on about their 'new order' for the galaxy, but what about the oppressed people of Alstuna? THEY HAVE NOTHING! THEY HAVE NOTHING...BUT THEIR ANGER! WE WILL USE THIS RIGHTEOUS ANGER AS A TIDE THAT WILL BRING US TO VICTORY!
—Reloiux Dqwer
The Skirmish on Alstuna (Cruentusian War) was a skirmish ochestrated by the Death's Tongue Militia during the Cruentusian War. Having decided to take a more cautious approach after a battle of Selonia, the DTM decided to raid a Necasian arms depot on the occupied planet of Alstuna, deep within Necasian territory. To do this, the DTM used propaganda and other means to instigate massive riots in the planet's main city, encouraging the people there to revolt against their Necasian occupiers. With the Necasians tied up trying to put down the riots, a small DTM force was able to raid the lightly-defended weapons depot. The prospect of the DTM striking even within Necasian territory also spread terror amongst Necasian citizenry, which was an extra bonus for the DTM.
Prelude[]
After their defeat on Selonia, DTM leaders agreed that they needed to take revenge on the Necasians to preserve morale, and also gain a tactical victory in the process. Reloiux Dqwer, the DTM's master of propaganda, selected the planet of Alstuna, a small world deep within Necasian territory, to attack; the population was angry at Necasian occupation, but lacked the courage or the organization to rise up. To minimize any expensive losses, Dqwer formulated a plan to harness the anger of the population.
He directed a DTM cell on Alstuna to dump rage-inducing chemicals into the main city's water supply, making the population restless and angry. The cell then proceeded to bribe, convince or threaten the chiefs at the local TV station to broadcast their programmes with DTM subliminal messaging. Meanwhile, heads of the DTM cell met with community leaders and convinced them that now was the time to rise against the Necasians. Weapons were discreetly distributed amongst the populance. Everything was going according to plan.
The operation[]
The riots begin[]
That evening, several cars parked in the city's main square, around a statue of Carsal Redharn, which was in front of the Necasian occupation centre. They then detonated, destroying the foot of the statue and causing to topple onto the occupation centre, destroying half of it. For the people of Alstuna, this was their cue. Rising up in vast crowds, they advanced into the Necasian-dominated city centre, smashing vehicles and looting shops. Meanwhile, more car bombs went off throughout the city, destroying Necasian monuements and symbols of rule. A car bomb also went off in front of the NPEC centre, sowing confusion.
Nonetheless, Necasian NPEC troops and riot police were scrambled, and headed to meet the main crowds, which were rampaging through the financial district, setting fire to buildings. NPEC troops attacked the rioters with shotguns and tear gas, scattering some of them. To their horror, they discovered that almost all of the rioters were armed. Within moments, the rioters opened fire, gunning down several NPEC riot police. The rest raised their riot shields, deflecting many bullets, but soon the mob descended, beating then up and stealing their weapons.
Meanwhile, more rioters went up to the governor's mansion in the city centre, attacking it with homemade grenades and rocks. Desperate, the governor called more NPEC reinforcements to his mansion, but by now the riots were city-wide, and almost all Necasian militia in the city was occupied. Many buildings in the financial district, symbols of Necasian rule, were ablaze. The NPEC commander in the city was seriously worried, and was considering calling down a carpet bombing strike.
The DTM raid[]
All your weapons are belong to us!
—A DTM soldier
With nearly all Necasian forces having their hands full with the riots, the Necasian weapons depot outside the city was almost completely undefended. The DTM quickly took the opportunity, and a small group of DTM soldiers descended on the depot, gunning down the few NPEC troops there. They began loading as many weapons as they could carry onto a SkyBull-class transport present at the base. It was the work of about twenty minutes for the SkyBull to reach maximum capacity. The soldiers laid explosives at the remaining ammo piles and made their escape in the transport, and then detonated the charges, destroying what was left of the weapons depot.
Meanwhile, in the city, the NPEC had resorted to dropping napalm on the crowds, and a semblance of order was returning to the city. Nonetheless, the NPEC forces had taken heavy casaulties, and lots of the city was wrecked.
Aftermath[]
The success of the operation boosted morale throughout the DTM, which began distributing the weapons it had stolen. It also prompted more recruits to join up to it. Meanwhile, although the NPEC had restored order to Alstana, Necasian grip was barely stable there, and minor riots and dissidence amongst the population spread. Necasian High Command toyed with the idea of destroying Alstana to stop the dissidence from spreading to other occupied worlds. Meanwhile, the DTM saw to it that word that it was responsible for the debacle on Alstuna spread amongst the Necasians, sowing terror and fear. Still, Necasian leaders tried to placate the population by assuring them that the DTM was not a threat. By now, however, it was obvious that the DTM was still fighting.
