Sith Philosophers were Sith Lords who focused most of their time on dark side philosophy rather than battle. They were the dark side version of a Jedi Consular.
Even if a Jedi who turned to the dark side was a Jedi Consular, it did not necessarily mean they would be a Sith Philosopher. They might become a Sith Warrior or Sith Inquisitor instead.
