The Sinyan Imperium was the government established on the planet Sinya by the Sinyan Nationalist Movement after its victory in the Sinyan Civil War. Its first and only Emperor was Yen Balestone who ruled the Imperium until the end Cruentusian War. The Imperium survived two invasions by the Srav Federation and Taung Confederacy though at the cost of much life. In order to provide better security to Sinya, Balestone joined the United Coalition of Worlds; however, this action caused the Imperium to lose its sovereignty. Many Sinyans would go on to serve with the UCW as soldiers and politicians.
Culture[]
Most Sinyan citizens believed they enjoyed a good quality of life, although free speech was limited. The most commonly supressed was the political left, which was a hated minority among the mainstream of Sinyans. While the government itself had no laws discriminating any particular species, much prejudice existed among the population, in particular, the Human majority. The economy was a mix of private and government controlled companies, making it at least partially capitalist. Much of Sinyan culture was focused on conquest and expansion, and citizens were required to serve in a military group for a certain amount of time. To further increase military size, civilians were allowed to join at as young as 13 years of age.
Military[]
The Sinyan Imperium included several military organizations with the primary one being the Sinya Defense Force. Another major organization was the Bureau of Sinyan Intelligence, which was involved mostly with intelligence and police work. Many smaller militias also existed.
Sinya Defense Force[]

The SDF was the largest and most funded military organization. Soldiers in the SDF were generally well trained in the use of weapons and tactics; however, discipline was often lax. Due to this, SDF men were prone to becoming panicked and disorganized. The SDF's primary weapon was the MR-11 assault rifle although soldiers were sometimes allowed to use their own weapons in SDF's early years. The main battle tank of the SDF was the SAAV-4 light tank. Although lightly armed and armored, the SAAV-4 was faster than almost active tanks in the galaxy. A later tank version was the SAAV-6 heavy tank which was one of the most heavily armed tanks at the time, but also one of the slowest. Other armed vehicles such as the SMMV-A9 and SMMV-A11 were employed along with a number of unarmed vehicles. Much of the SDF's airborne vehicles were purchased off-world; however, the locally-made JAX-12 made up the bulk of its fighter forces.
Bureau of Sinyan Intelligence[]
The BSI, although officially an intelligence agency, was involved in much of the dirtier work of the Imperium. The Bureau's primary job was to insure that Sinyan civilians were kept in order and they were authorized to use any means necessary. Besides its role as a police force, the BSI also did much of the "clean-up" work following battles such as "processing" enemy prisoners. Intelligence work was also done, but to many it seemed only a secondary task to the BSI. BSI units were equipped with most of the same vehicles as the SDF although in smaller numbers.
Coalition of Sinyan Militias[]
The CSM was a loosely joined coalition of local militias. These militias were armed and outfitted with their own supplies and were not supported by the government. The primary purpose of the CSM was to protect the voter-elected Civil Council in the event of a military coup, although they were never forced to do so. The CSM was generally despised by ranking leaders in the Sinyan government and military because it sometimes provided an obstacle to their goals. The CSM was also allowed one representative on the Sinyan General Staff.
History[]
The Imperium was established by the Sinyan Nationalists after the end of the Sinyan Civil War. With the defeat of the SSR, a divide appeared within the victorious Nationalists, with some supporting a return to the republican-form of goverment that preceeded the SSR and others favoring a dictatorship. The resulting compromise consisted of a powerful exucutive commanding military matters, and a militia-backed, voter-elected congress overseeing most civillian matters. Most of the economy returned to capitalism, with the exception of weapon and transportation industries which remained government-run. The Imperium's economy boomed in the initial months following its formation, allowing for the rapid rebuilding of Sinya after the war. However, the ecomony began to slow after the rebuilding was complete. Petty political skirmishes and other local problems destracted the Sinyans from the growing threat posed by escalating Cruentusian War.
About a year after the Imperium was established, the Srav Federation launced an invasion of Sinya, forcing the unprepared Sinyans to go underground. Left-wing Sinyans, most of whom had prievously supported the SSR, welcomed the Sravs, with many collaborated with them. However, most Sinyan citizens remained loyal to the Imperium. Eventually, the Sinyans drove away the Sravs, and any known collaborators were arrested by police or killed by mobs.
The Imperium began expanding territory over the next year, capturing Karccev, Riesen, Axra Prime and Mu Nae. However, they again fell prey to a surprise invasion, this time by the Taung Confederacy. After initially losing much territory, the Sinyans were able to entrench themselves on Karccev and hold off the Taungs for many months. The Taung eventually withdrew their forces because of Srav attacks against them. Shortly after, the Imperium joined the UCW and unoffially lost it's status as an independent government.
The former Imperium would be represented by Yen Balestone on the UCW until the end of the war, after which he resigned from politics and was replaced by former SDF Supreme Commander Joe Tylars. Most SDF military commanders would become officers in the UCW military. Following the war many BSI members were tried and executed for war crimes. The last remnants of the Imperium were brushed away during the Militia Wars, although historic artifacts from it would later be discovered during the Jedi Civil War.
Behind the Scenes[]
The Sinyan Imperium was intended by the author to be a "moderate" version of the more radical Necasian Military. It is based largely of Nazi Germany but includes some forms of democratic freedom.
