"Shikkari" (/ʃiː'kɑːr.iː/ shee-KAHR-ee), roughly translated into Galactic Basic Standard as "knife-lord(s),"[1][2] was a Sith language colloquialism applied to members of the Châtsûshnwûlkut Tsisottoi Shikkarûjontû, a furtive special forces unit of Sith assassins based on Thule during the Manderon Period.[3] The word, a reference to the traditional Sith shikkar glass dagger,[2] alluded to the unit's origins as an assassins' guild active in the decades prior[4] to the arrival of the Dark Jedi Exiles on Korriban in 6900 BBY.[5][6]
Etymology and nomenclature
The word shikkari was a Sith language portmanteau composed of shikkar meaning "knife"[1][2] and the joint singular/plural suffix 'ari meaning "lord(s)."[7] As such, it could be translated as "knife-lords" in Galactic Basic Standard.
